While doing my programme today, I somehow managed to toepick myself doing a spiral and now have an extremely swollen knee. (Just in time for the Bracknell Opens.)

Anyway, does anyone know where I can get some of the invisible gel pads and if they are any good as I seem to be giving my knees a bit of a pasting at the moment. I've seen lots of US sites, but was wondering if any of the UK skate companies did them to save on the time on shipping?

I'd love some too. I keep falling on the precise same spot on my right knee. I thought the clear gel ones sounded good, but I can't find a uk firm either. (haven't also worked out the cheapest overseas shop, which will ship to the uk either.)

From UK sites, I have found these from Black White Cat, but they don't look remotely invisible! I could be tempted by a pair of these at this price, just for wearing under my jogging pants for lessons.

Specialist Skating Services seem to have something that looks promising at the bottom of this page - but you have to enquire about the prices.

I can vouch for these. They aren't invisible, but they are slim and they're very good. They conform to the shape of your knee and definitely take away the pain of impact.

Tiggerwoos - if you'd like to see them, remind me next time you see me. I don't usually wear them, but always keep them in my skate bag. Or I could bring them to Bracknell on Thursday?

They are from SkatingSafe.com. I just got them and am not so happy. I can't get them to stay in place, and the sleeves that I bought for them, also from SkatingSafe, are not made properly and roll down very uncomfortably. I will have to make my own sleeves to be able to use them. Also, they do not conform so well as in the picture. I don't mind the very high price, because I can write it off as a coaching expense, but I did spend about $80 altogether. There are many other skaters here who love them, but I'm not one.

I hope your knee improves in time for Bracknell!

Bought a pair of ballet/dance knee pads in ballet wear shop on Baker Street in London. They are tiny, thin silicone pads in skin coloured shell with rubber band. Cost £9.50. I'll bring them to Branknell on Thursday and you can try them on - just find me after my skate. I'm skating in class 6 at 8:45.

I have BOTH of the above. The little black ones are great for under trousers and the gel ones are good if you wera 2 pairs of tights with them. they're bulkier than they lookin the pic though, but better than anything else I've tried.
