AOSS Claims Another Victim

Hi, I'm taijiya, and I have AOSS.

I had a few lessons 20 years ago, and then did a Learn-To-Skate session six years ago; I'd have kept up with it then, but for life intruding--namely, my work schedule changed and I bought a house in the boonies! After getting out for a few sessions last spring, I decided to start taking the LTS group lessons again, and have now been at it since October. And now it seems I'm hopelessly hooked.

I've just passed Beta, and I was starting to feel discouraged by my slow progress when I realized that I've only been doing this for about three months, and only an hour a week; seeing it that way made me think I've actually made pretty good progress! My edges are slowly coming along, and I've even managed a fair (albeit slow) two-foot spin, lunge and spiral already. (The first time I tried a lunge I got down very nicely, then equally nicely toppled over to the side. ) I really like the coach I've had for the group lessons, and I've been talking to her a bit about private lessons once I've passed all the basics. My home rink closes around the first of May, but I'm lucky enough to live in a city that has two rinks, one of which is open year-round, so I'll be able to indulge this addiction all summer, too.

But I don't mean to bore you all with a novel; just wanted to say hello, and how much I've been enjoying reading through the forums here.

Welcome! I think you will find that the more new stuff you learn, the more hours you'll be skating. . . It's so addictive!

Welcome I think that passing Beta after three months is great! It took me the better part of a year just to pass Beta when I was a kid (t-stops...ugh!). Have fun with your skating!
