ahhh skating.. soo crazy

ok i have been working on my axel for about 2 years and in the last few months my coach has had me working on my double salchow, and double toe loop im fully rotated on all but just put my foot down at the end. neeedless to say its very frustrating. then like a week ago my coach was just like try a flip double loop combo i have never down a double loop in my life up to that day and like 2 practice sessions later i can land it fully rotated on one foot. now is that not totally insane??? I can land a double loop but not a axel or double sal. or double toe. sometime skating totally baffles me. has anyone else had experiences like this where you can't get the easy element but can get a more difficult element easily??

This has happend to me tons of times!!! I used to not be able to do an axel to save my life but I could do a double salchow quite easily. Now, thank godness, I can do my axel fine, but now im having problems with my double salchow. Its driving my insane!

SKATING: It's the feeling you get at the end of a hard practice when you pushed yourself to the limit. It's a part of YOU, something you LOVE and HATE. A bond that NO ONE ELSE understands, but that's okay, because every time you get out on the ice it isn't just you; it's all the friends and coaches, all the practices, the pain, the tears, the memories, the laughter, the "off" competitions. It may seem, skating is really a team sport, it's more than just a sport. IT'S A WAY OF LIFE."

hey,
that is perfectly normal, my axel took me 4 years to land believe it or not and i was landing all my doubles before i was landing my axel. and now i can't land a double axel but i can land a triple loop, my double loop was my first double to land!

My coach says that whether you learn your axel or your double salchow first seems to be a matter of whether you prefer forward or backward take-offs. He teaches both simultaneously, and isn't surprised if a pupil gets one before the other!
