Cobra Lift
What is a "Cobra Lift"? I printed off some off-ice practice tips, and besides all the jumping and plyometrics, it lists doing cobra lifts. Any idea what that is?

It's a stretch for your back, typical in yoga. Lay on your stomach and lift your upper body with your arms so your back is arched, if you get really good at it you can lift your lower body a tad, too. Focus on arching your entire spine, not just your lumbar region, or you'll cause injury.
Unless there is something else they call the cobra lift....

Where did you find the tips? I'm interested in working out some jumping and plyometrics that I can do on my own. I've founds lots on the internet about stretching exercises but nothing detailing off-ice jumping (other than saying to do it).

*Assuming* it is the yoga "cobra" pose, here's how to do it:

Yup! That's it! For beginners, I would recommend starting out on your elbows first, then progressing upwards slowly. As you build strength & flexibility, you can extend. When you are in a full cobra, then you can add the legs, again start slowly. You might want to add these to your list of stretches as well:
Bow pose: http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/875 Locust: http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/789 and one-legged pigeon pose (although I prefer the one where you are not up against the wall) http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/2493 Pay close attention to the contra-indications for each-if you have bad stuff-then don't do the pose. If you are clear, then start slow (i.e. don't be a hero)

link for off-ice
I stumbled across the information while "shopping" for skate accessories. It is on the "Ice Xtras" site: (there are varying levels on it)
