News from Europe

This is the thread for those of us who have Internet access from Oberstdorf and then Villard-de-Lans to keep everybody else posted! I hope to have sporadic access.... and will keep my Facebook status current from my mobile phone.

Oh, well...this means I will actually have to write things down. I think Fiona and her partner did well in dance (CD) like 2nd...will have to check. Going to watch gold ladies early tonight. So will report back later.

Here's the results web page...

http://www.deu-event.de/results/adult2008/

Hope everyone has a great skate and an even better time! Wish I was there...but we're not good enough yet and it's a bit hard to go all that way with young kids. (Maybe one day...)

I have internet access here, but for some reason no outgoing e-mail! Ah well.... having a lovely time, lots of people here from these boards. Exhausted after first day's skating camp, but that's to be expected. Must dash, want to cook....

Oh my word, camp today was just awesome!!!! "Made of win" as the young say here. We were taught by the New York City Ice Theatre people, and it was just fabulous. Superb exercises, focussing on kneebend, extension, core twist and arms, lots of power but not trying to go fast. Just my sort of skating! I was able to do most things, although not all of them well! In fact, many of them very badly, but still had a fabulous time.

Am now utterly exhausted, but must haul myself upstairs to go and change for the dinner tonight!

I will let other people post their own results as and when they wish to. But WE CAME SECOND!!!!!!!!! After ten years or so of trying, we finally came top of the heap of pre-Bronze Brits!

Probably, as the Husband says, a statistical aberration - but we'll take it!!!! We are both thrilled.....

Others have also done very well.....

CONGRATULATIONS!!! We know how long and hard you've worked for this -- as a friend of mine says "Sometimes it pays to be stubborn!"

Congrats Annabel!!!

Many congratulations Annabel and Rob, I just had to phone you when I got your text, despite being in B&Q at the time, I think the customers thought I had gone loopy screaming down the phone at you, but it's the most exciting news in a long time, well done and well earned!!!

Can't do any fancy graphics like Jazzpants and others, so let me just say . . .

Huge kudos to Annabel and Robert (aka "The Husband")!
