Back on the ice
The rink has only been shut for just under a fortnight for annual maintenance, but it was heaven to get back onto the ice this afternoon. Although I definitely felt a tad rusty when I started, I soon settled down, although I will confess to feeling like a big kid, and intended just to savour the session. I like the Monday afternoon slots, as they are rarely crowded (except during school holidays) and senior ice is the session before, so I am often treated to some impressive skating whilst I get ready. To top off my afternoon, I howled with laughter when I heard one of the tracks on the public session music playlist - Elvis Costello - I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down. The rink management obviously have a sense of humour.
One of those treasured sessions with lots of 'feel good' factor.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder....
Yeah, I miss it too, when our tiny rink shuts for a couple of weeks over Christmas/New Year. But I suppose it is also nice to do other things for a couple of weeks that I haven't had time to do, and I am sure my joints and muscles appreciate the rest. Enjoy Derek!
