Husband & I were talking about it this morning - and he wishes we were going to be there! I think we'll be there one of these years; if not next year then maybe the year after.

As it is, we'll be in Bristol - not as glamorous, but at least we'll be competing! And thinking of you all.....

hi Terri and Gatty - I was in Va. Beach this past weekend as well - visiting my parents. One visit we'll have to hook up!

Well, I'm actually leaning against doing gold--had a little chat with coach this morning, and she thinks it's bad idea (for various good reasons). I think it's safer to just stick to silver mainly because I may withdraw from the singles event if the program doesn't come together. I certainly won't have an outfit by then (but hey, you just might see my pairs outfit twice in one event! ...that is if we have those outfits by then! I promise no flap this time around. )

No spins this year. Just singles and pairs.

Actually, the purple flapped costume would work very well in my campy, melodramatic (not just me; the music!) singles program!

OK, I have reserved 4 rooms at the Extended StayAmerica Atlanta- Gwinnett Place for Sept 2nd and 3rd, (it's one exit down from the rink), for the great rate of $43.99 a night. They have a queen sized bed and a kitchen. Puleeze lemme know if you are interested.

I might be interested, Becca, but it depends if my partner wants to stay there too! (Since I presume we'll be sharing one rental car...)

NoVa, feel free to chime in here.

Is it the Adult Open at Bristol you are talking about? Which events are you competing in? I'm hoping I will be able to go and watch and may be help out so I might see you (assuming I've got the right comp! Lol)

It is indeed - the one on 4 September; we're entering the Couples Compulsory Dances and Couples Free Dance, both at Elementary level.

Bumping the thread up, but I do have one question:
The theme for the Competitor's party is "Enchanment Under the Sea".
Do people dress up according to the theme or no? I'd hate to be the only one dressing up!

Hi Terri,

I would say that last year about half the people dressed up and half didn't...

I'm having a hard time getting excited about dressing up for this theme. The band plays mostly 90s and 00s alternative. I can't see dancing to that in 50s garb. And the sea stuff is too hard. I don't want to wear my bathing suit all night, and Hawaiian clothing isn't quite right for the theme, IMO. I think I'll probably just wear "normal" clothes.

After a *few* (ahem) drinks, it probably doesn't matter anyway!
