Black Blades - I want some
At a skating exhibition this past weekend, one of the guy skaters had black blades on his black boots. It looked so cool. I want mine to be black.
Does anyone know if I can do something to my chrome colored blades to make them black? |

Um, well, I guess you could mask up the skating/sharpening edge of the blade and spray paint the chrome part? Or maybe black tape. Though that might encourage rust with trapped moisture on the inside.
Both would be pretty darn temporary. Or you could shell out a few hundred bucks and get the actual black Ultima blades seen here |

Guess I'd better see what kind of paint I can find at the hardware store. |

I accidentaly turned my sons blades black once when trying to repair the damage he had done to his boots from drags (lunges). I was using some black spray for boots that I got from a pro hockey shop in Canada. Unfortunately can't remember the name now of the spray but it was designed for leather. It did a great job on the blades and lasted for ages!

Didn't Elvis Stojko have black blades too? In the 2001 season at least.

The blades are Black Ultima Freestyle blades, and their top of the line...They are around $600 Canadian, I can't remember the actual price tho. 8 inch rocker, amazing edge control and glide
