Tips on spinning..
anyone have any tips on performing the donut spin or the bielman spin?? thanks a bunch

Practice the biellman position, both off ice and against the boards to help gain back flexibility. I found that the proper biellman has more to do with back flexibility than "split" flexibility. Also, try spinning slower until you can grab your leg from behind you. Then as you get more comfortable speed up the spin. That is how I learned how to do a biellman :-)

thanx for the tip pinkdblonde, i'll definately get to those bielmann stretches..i always slow down (almost to the point of stopping) when i start pulling my leg up, maybe it has something to do with the way im approaching the position..
about the donut spin, i am mystified by how some skaters can achieve that position..i dont even know how to start attempting that spin!

I can't do a donut, but a girl at my rink just goes into a camel spin and then brings her leg to her head.
Simple, right? |
