Loaf of Bread?

For the second or third time on this board, I have read "loaf of bread" in reference to particular type of technique. I think I've seen it used in reference to both spins and jumps. Can someone explain what this means to me?

Mel On Ice and I learned this technique from Kathy Casey in reference to the axel.

If you're doing the axel from a standstill, hold your hands in front of you as if you're holding a loaf of bread, then push, swing your arms back, jump and pull in. (I hope that makes sense! )

This technique seemed to help keep me from leaning too far into the circle on takeoff.

Okay, I can think of about 5 different ways to hold a loaf of bread. Could you explain a little more, please?

think of the standard size of a loaf of bread, and hold your hands out in front of you, about the height of your belly button, that width apart.
