What's a swing roll? What's a chassé?
Apologies if this is double-posted.
So I have a little basic skating book that lists the first five basic dances. The patterns of the Dutch Waltz and Canasta Tango look to me like lots of deep, secure edges. In the margin notes it says 'swing roll' and 'chassés', and I can't figure out what these moves could that makes them different from alternating edges. Anyone have a good description or a picture? |

Here's a good description of a slide chasse online
http://www.skatepro.f9.co.uk/tip-chasse.htm The slide chasse is more of a step - slip. It shows up on the Intermediate MITF. If you have a rule book you can see it from the diagram there. I'm not a dancer, but from what I understand a swing roll is like taking an forward left outside edge and rolling the free leg from back to front. http://www.skatepro.f9.co.uk/rolls.htm

Thanks! I think I'm sort of learning swing rolls now.
