pancake spin variation

I just watched the most fascinating pancake spin variation on Ice Network. I skater did a pancake backspin then rose up, put her free foot behind her neck and went back into the pancake spin. I have thought of this, but do not have the flexibility to do it.

If you want to see it, go to CP Regionals Sr. Ladies FS. The skater is Danielle Endow. Her program begins at 26:00. The spin is at the end.

Not so uncommon these days - we have a Junior, Novice, and 3 Intermediates doing it. It makes me sore watching them.

Great spin! Thanks for pointing it out.

Just to clarify, she did a death drop into an 8-rev back *cannonball*, then an over-the-head back pancake. (I tried to do this and almost broke my neck! )

Yeah, it's an insane spin position! We had a junior lady here who used to do that variation. She was looking for an appealing name for it but everyone just kept referring to it as the "pretzel" LOL!
