Shims

OK - I've heard both opinions on the placement of shims - so once and for all, where is the correct placement - i.e. if you want more inside edge, do you place the shim on the inside or the outside?!!!

It depends on your feet! If you have pronation, meaning your feet fall to the inside, then you would want a shim on the inside. If you have supination, the shim should go on the outside. Better yet, get orthotics or custom boots.

My pronation is so bad, I have shims on my custom boots(after remounting the blades several times). if you aren't really pronating or anything similar, the shim will be placed uner the heel of your blade on the inside.

I had custom boots and they did the same thing. I think it's because I have a little scoliosis, who knows. I wear my boots into getting good right outside edge and good left inside edge. So, I was hoping that a blade adjustment or shim would help. I didn't know shims go on the heels! I thought they went on the larger part of the blade. Hmmmm!
