Mids Schedule
It deserves it's own thread.
It was posted here: http://www.skatingforums.com/showpos...6&postcount=10 I hope the referee hears complaints about the championship gold and masters novice/intermediate schedule. I've made mine. To put a championship event at 8:20 in the morning is awful - who is going to come to watch them? Isn't that part of the fun of a sectionals? I know it is for me - I love an event that ends with the awesome masters skaters (although I do realize that the championship pairs do put a wrench in the schedule because of people doing both championship pairs and singles.) Personally, I wouldn't mind at all skating my solo dance at that time of the morning - but not the championship event. Add to it the fact that we're paying twice as much as the other skaters to skate on mini-mite ice (sorry, hockey reference) is worse. What about the skaters flying in from the west? They're skating even earlier, according to their body clocks.

If I was competing, I'd be at 10:30 on Sunday. Hmmm, no thanks!
![]() I'll be there to cheer everyone on (even at 8:30 on Sunday morning, if they keep champ Gold at that time)!

Actually this works out perfectly for me, since I couldn't come in until Saturday! I'm doing Champ Int/Nov.
I couldnt' get in until Saturday, so this works out great for me. It's a bit early, but better than leaving at 4:00 am with a 5 month old baby on Saturday to do a Saturday afternoon event. I understand some are unhappy, but personally I couldn't be more relieved. |

I don't mind champ gold/champ intermediate novice being on Sunday at all. Just that it should be after the Silver ladies, not before it. Right before the other championship events.

Ideally, yes. I wasn't remarking so much about the time. I'm more just happy it;s Sunday.

Ordinarily, I'd be delighted with this schedule as all my events would be over by noon on Saturday.
Crap, I'm guessing I wasn't on the list to judge this event.

my mom is doing adult nationals gold non-qualifying. She is 44 and I think she has a strong chance at winning!

I wouldn't want to judge camp gold because there are too many good skaters competing.

I'm not sure. I watched adult nationals from last year and I was really surprised at how good some of the adult skaters really were. And I'm not talking age 21 I'm talking like age 35 and up.

I'm just glad all 5 of my events are not on the same day!
I've got the 4 events that don't stress me out or require much thinking on Saturday (interp and 3 solo dances one after the other, hopefully I will have time in the skating order to change), and with the highest level dance first so I won't kill myself on the 14 step and be tired for the tango and blues. Then I can do my dreaded freestyle Sunday and can just focus on that.

LOL I think its great that there are adult skaters that actually can do something. At my rink there are three adult skaters my mom and two other beginer skaters.

Old fogie! I'm 44 and 2 1/2 months!
![]() The champ gold ladies is an hour and 3 minutes long. I'm guessing 2 five minute warm ups, 4:00 per skater......12-13 skaters? How many can you have in a warm up?

There can be a max of six in a warmup for a qualifying event, and the warmup is six minutes long. Each skater's program is a max of 2:40, plus add 30 seconds per skater for the time it takes to get on and off the ice. Given that, it's 3:10 per skater. Subtract 18 minutes (three six-minute warmups) from the 63-minute length of the event, and that leaves 45 minutes. Fourteen skaters at 3:10 apiece equals 44 minutes/20 seconds -- in other words, 45 minutes! But I always sucked at math, so don't blame me if you get there and there's, like, 18 people in your group. ![]() |

I caculated 12 people in the group based on the amount of time given for PCAS (85 minutes) for 16 skaters (4.4 minutes/skater)

Even the beginner adult skater can actually "do something." For every adult skater who can barely manage a tiny waltz jump or forward crossovers, there are hundreds of people who wish they could even do that (or wish that they had the guts to even try a sport that is stereotyped for tiny little girls when they are adults).
