I passed

I passed my level 6 (14 step and willow waltz) compulsories and level 5 free dance

Free dance was fine. Compulsories were not my most stellar effort but hey.

Am very happy but also a little freaked that I'm now on gold level 7!

Congratulations - that is quite an accomplishment.

When my daughter passed her Willow Waltz, the cd kept skipping so that she thought it was done and she would start to stop, then realize it was still playing and so they kept letting her do another pattern and she ended up having to do about 6 patterns

Congratulations!!! That's wonderful. I don't know the NISA dance levels--so which dance will you be working on next?

Thanks everyone Not that marks mean anything but I got 12.0 for the compulsories (passing mark 12.0- 3.0 required for technique and 3.0 presentation for each dance) and 5.9 for the free dance (passing mark 5.6 - 2.8 required for technical and 2.8 for presentation)

Next compulsory dances are American Waltz and 22-step.

I managed to bypass the European waltz as that used to be level 7 but is now level 6.
NISA recently changed the levels 5-7 dances

Old levels were

Level 5 - foxtrot and British waltz
Level 6 - 14 step and willow waltz
Level 7 - 22 step and European waltz

New levels are

Level 5 - 14 step and willow waltz
Level 6 - foxtrot and European waltz
Level 7 - American waltz and 22 step

So I did old level 6 but will have to do new level 7.

Your coach is right. I did the old tests as my papers were in before Dec 06 and the tests then had to be taken by the end of this month.

Level 5 is now, as of 2007, the 14 step and willow and level 6 the foxtrot and European.

Ahh I see! I'm having a right nightmare with my tests I have to test the willow twice now! grr It went higher now lower again?!! It was in the old elementray 2 and I failed it then (i thought i'd got away with it since the tests changed then!) now I have to do it again 3 tests later!
Good luck with the 22 step and American Waltz I love those (not that I can do them!

Old tests were harder I've heard! So you should be fine doing the willow for level 5.

I love the 22 step but I don't know the American. Looooooooong way off testing those though. Say about 2030! By which time they would have changed again.

I think you get the same thrill of passing whatever the level is. Well I did anyways. It's just as thrilling passing a level 1 test, or a skate uk test or a level 6 test.
