USA State and National Senior Olympics Games
For whatever reason, some people of any age like to compete. (Not me. I'd look silly.)
Probably too late for this year (the Maryland figure skating event was 2/14/09, in Laurel, MD), but the National Senior Games Association and its state members (you probably have to compete in the state games to qualify for the national) host events for age 50 and up, organized by age group and sometimes by disability category. I'm guessing it is pretty easy to sign up for the state games, but there is no info for the 2010 winter games yet at that site - you might try a few months before next February. The state and national games are more or less annual. For example http://www.mdseniorolympics.org/news/news_front.html said: Winter Games to Be Held Feb. 14, 2009 (12-30-08)Obviously the major U.S. skating organizations have (sectional?), regional and national competitions too, including for adults. USFSA has an Adult Skating Program with regional and national competitions which people can enter starting at very low skating levels, and the ISI runs Adult Championships too. |

I'm trying to get figure skating into the MA Senior Winter Games. I doubt it will happen this year but I'm hopeful for next year.
