Welcome to SkatingForums. What event(s) are you competing in at Mids? (I'm just a busybody, not a competitor?)

I'm doing PreBronze Free I, although I'm guessing some of the age groups will be combined. Just trying to look at this as a fun performance/learning experience vs. competition. I really don't know how big a part nerves will play; I just want to get through it with solid skating and a smile on my face!

I'm doing prebronze freestyle - at first I thought from the schedule they were putting all the age groups together, but from my letter, it looks like they just combined IV & V - which actually puts me on the younger end - usually I'm the older competitor.

I'm also doing solo Rhythm Blues and I signed up for the Cha Cha, but I have notworked on it much, so I'm thinking of scratching that...I dunno...maybe I just go out and give it a go since I've already paid...

THis is my first All Adult Competition. My daughter is going to put me on!

This will be my first competition in 10 years and my first as an adult. I hear it is a lot of fun and am looking forward to the more relaxed enviroment rather than the cutthroat tension ridden ones I did as a kid. Unfortunatly because of my "testing out" 10 years ago, I am grandfathered into Masters Senior. Im going to sectionals to do Championship Masters and have no idea what Im up against. I only hope to just make it through my program! Best of luck to everyone!

Hi everyone! I'm a long time lurker, and a first time poster. This is my first year competing as an adult, and I'll be in Championship Gold Ladies as well as artistic and spins at Mids. I can't decide whether I"m more nervous or excited, but I'm looking forward to it no matter what!

Welcome to our group! I was wavering about coming, but have decided to go ahead and go. I'm just doing champ gold. It will be my fourth time.

I have never attended an adult competition, nor know any other adult skaters (except my mom), and basically have never done this before...Can anyone tell me what to expect in Championship Masters?

I do want to wish everyone the best of luck this coming weekend. I am so excited for my very first event as an adult!

Has anyone heard about their practice times? I know it is a mammath job organizing these things and I don't want to unduly bug them, but since my event is early Sat am, I don't want to have to go over Friday night and see when my practice is...

Mids Champ ladies are very solid, usually 2lutz solo and in combo, same for 2 flip, good flow from all the skater's. There should be 11 of us in total 4 from Nov, 3-4 from Jr and the rest Sr tests passed. I will be finishing last as I am recovering from hip surgery this summer and can't even do or attempt any doubles due to lack of strength. The skaters are all very nice, you can find me easily I have a noticeable limp and I'm 5'10, I am also the oldest in the group @ 42, even though there could be a few close to my age, Jenny is 40...lots of variety.

Good luck it's a fun event.

Leslie

oooh, ok so forgive me but it think I have this correct...in Ch. Masters, all age groups and levels (Nov, Jr, Sr) are combined into one group?

How many skaters are there total? Also, if you are the oldest at 42 whos the youngest? (which by the way, a friend of mine is 45 and winning marathons- so age means nothing)!

That's too bad, Gena. Sorry about your broken leg. Hope your recovery is fast and uneventful. Get well soon.

Welcome to SF, myste12! Good luck at Mids this weekend!

Yes, you have it correct regarding masters. Champ Gold is all ages too, but just the gold level.

In the past, there has been a skater in champ masters who is in her 70's. Pretty impressive!

Welcome to the Championship Masters group! I might very well be one of the youngest (I just turned 23), but I don't really know what to expect. I don't have a double lutz in my program, and for this competition, I'm doing a flip-loop instead of a double flip. I haven't really had time to condition because of my work schedule, so that'll be my biggest challenge. I really just want to go out there and have some fun (and maybe skate early in my group so I can marvel at the others after me!).

I'm pretty sure Championship Masters combines all ages and levels, yes. I'm technically a masters novice (int. free and novice moves passed). Now I just need to get over the nerves issue. I'm telling myself that I'm going to enjoy this competition or else because I'm not competing again most likely for a few years (going back to school). Hopefully I can overcome the anxiety and have some fun.

Good luck to everyone!!!

Special shout outs to Mel On Ice, sk8er1964, coskater64, and jskater49: Go KICK SOME ICE BUTTS!!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! (Mel, you gotta tell me how you did at your event and what's out there this year at Bronze Ladies III FS, since I'm in your age group and level now. I want to see how the skaters are adapting to the new WBP requirements.)

Gena: I'm so sorry that you have to miss Sectionals b/c of your injury! Believe in the fact though that eventually you will be able to get thru your injury, come back on the ice and skate again!!! (((gt20001)))
