Skating in Birmingham

Hello,
I'm Marie-Amélie, I'm 21 , and I am french. I've been skating in France for a long time but I'm moving to Birmingham in England in a week. I would like to know if somebody knows the ice skating club of Birmingham. Is it possible to take ice skating lessons there? Is it possible to train with a group of adult skaters? How many hours can we train a week?I am not begginer and I think that my level is freestyle 2, I do competitions sometimes. Thankyou for answering me, it will help me a lot.

Hi and welcome!

Unfortunately you won't have a rink in Birmingham till 2008, but time flies, and you can check on the progress here:

Fortunately, there two other wonderful rinks nearby: Solihull and Coventry. Both have skating clubs, lessons etc. Coventry is going to launch a special adult skating programme in October/November which is going to be a lot of fun.

Here is what you need to know:
Solihull:

Coventry:

If you can make it to Coventry, that will be great. We have 6 adult skaters entering British Adult Championship this year and definitely would welcome another competitive skater!

I skate at Solihull (which is a suburb of Birmingham), and I think that the ice is nicer there than at Coventry. There aren't really any group classes specifically for adults, but we do have some excellent coaches and a couple of very good ice dance clubs. There are a lot of adult skaters at Solihull and a very nice community there. If you need/want any information just PM me.
