Anyone been to free ice at Chelsea Piers?

Sky Rink is having free public sessions on Sundays from 12:30 - 3 (iirc) this summer (saw it on the website for Chelsea Piers). I'm finally back from vaycay and done with business trips for the rest of August.

Has anyone been? Is it crowded? I'm sadly out of shape but I'm going with my girlfriend for her SECOND time on the ice and I don't want her to get scared. I'll just be happy to do a few three turns. And if you've been, is that rink still pretty warm?

TIA

My friend who skates there often say it is good during the first 30 - 40 minutes of the session.

Thank you, Tessa & TimDavidSkate! As Tessa knows, I went today, bringing my Adirondack friends' 13 yr old son with me. It was as described, and throwing in the free parking across the street, it was a great way to spend a miserably hot and smoggy afternoon.
