best prices/places to purchase gel pads
Hi all,
I am trying to purchase knee gell pads and elbow ones, also. Anyone have any recommendations for the best/least expensive places to shop online? Thanks |

someone posted a while back, they got theirs from a medical supply source and "cut their own"
Might want to search the posts for that.

The gel in the "real" ones is called Akton - and yes, for practice I use the home-cut ones from a wheelchair pad (also thicker than skatingsafe, iirc)

But if you cut your own, you have to somehow seal the edges, as the gel is gooey and leaks out. I didn't want to use tape, as it would show and not be a smooth seam, but I haven't progressed to trying other things yet.

Yes, very true. I seal the edges with a soft Nexcare tape (orangish-color). And I use those pads for practice...
I saw somewhere mentioned to put talcum powder on the "raw" edges before sealing them to curb the stickiness - will have to try that.
