Increasing pattern size of alt. BXO to BO edges?
So, I'm working on Bronze moves, and my alt. back crossovers to BO edge lobes are tiny. I'm shooting for 4 lobes per length of rink (because 6 winds up being too many to fit in, and 5 makes for a weird end pattern), but I usually finish about 10-15 feet from the end of the rink I'll eventually be testing in (new NHL size).
My back power perimeter crossovers are MUCH bigger, lobe-wise than the alt. BXO to BO edges. Any advice on making the lobes bigger on the alt BXO to BO edge? Just push harder?

as you do the back crossovers, think about pushing down ice rather than around the lobe, i.e. think about length.

My coach is big on that as well, pushing down the ice for these moves. My pattern on this move has gotten bigger though just because I'm skating faster. It's an amazing thing! Maybe if you think of both things it will help.
Good luck!

1. bend your knees more, more, more.
2. Every step of this exercise is a push, including the 3rd one where you're pushing onto the BO edge. Many people miss that 3rd push. 3. Agree w/ the poster who said think about pushing down ice, not around. |
