Sweaty feet

I've been skating a lot this summer, for some long sessions and my feet are sweating up a swamp. Slusher has been Sloshing! My feet are slipping inside my skates, I can feel it on the flip especially. It's like as my feet warm up, the boots expand and the sweat gets going, so my feet are moving around.

Any ideas, other thank changing socks? I was thinking of having the tongue changed from foam to wool.

Try a drugstore for some sort of antiperspirant. Maybe some of these will help?

or this: http://www.drionic.com/hand_foot_sweat.html

Nylon socks promote sweating, so don't wear those while skating.

Also, remove hard, dead skin on your feet with a pumice stone. According to Encarta, it becomes soggy when damp, and provides an ideal environment for bacteria, which in turn, causes your sweat to smell (which not be in your case, but, just in case you needed the info )

Good luck!

Dr. Scholls foot powder-extra strength is what I use and no socks/nylons or tights. Works good and my feet don't slide around. Sprinkle the powder inside the boot and toss it around pretty good.

See a podiatrist if you have excessive sweaty feet problem. Mine gave me some pre-packaged towletts with silver nitrate on it, I think, that I'm supposed to wipe my feet with before bedtime and it'll keep my feet dry throughout the next day. Showering won't wash it off. I haven't tried it yet though 'cause I have other issues with my feet right now

I don't like the foot powder stuff, because it makes a big mess and it'll just end up feeling like I have moist flour on my feet and in my shoes.

What the podiatrist gave me was some trial pads of Certain Dri containing Aluminum Chloride,

I would recommend trying anti-perspirants on your feet first.

Are you one of those people who skate in bare feet??

Wow.

Yup! I wasn't at first-I thought people that did were weird! I couldn't even wear sneakers without socks (still don't). But, once I tried it I found that my feet didn't move around and tended to 'grip' inside my boots and I could really feel the way the ice felt much more than skating with socks or tights. Does that make sense?

I sweat, not abnormally but enough that I am not a lady however am somewhat better than a horse. I wear really thin cotton socks because I thought they would absorb the sweat , and there is a moment where everything "sticks" and it's great, but then it gets loose. I thought that going barefoot would be worse, but maybe not. I think I'll give it a try. Or maybe not to skate so many hours in a row.

Make sure your skates are thoroughly aired out between skatings! Also, I think that sometimes all the man-made stuff inside the skates makes our feet sweat more....holds the heat in and doesn't let natural evaporation occur. But, as long as your tootsies don't get cold and clammy, you should be OK.

I don't normally sweat much, but my skates always get horribly sweaty when I skate! Sometimes airing them out overnight doesn't even get them thoroughly dry by the next day. :/ But my foot doesn't seem to slip around in my skates any more or less as a result of sweat though...

On a related note, anyone have good tips on getting rid of boot smell? For the first year I had my skates, they didn't smell that bad but they utterly reek now. It's mostly the insoles. I've been thinking of experimenting with activated charcoal in some kind of format that wouldn't stain my boots. I hear it's a great deodorizer. I've also given serious thought to calling the Jackson skate company and asking them for a new pair of insoles.

It does, but when I tried it (faute de mieux - I only had over-boot tights with me and had left my socks at home!) I hated the feeling! I would do it if I had to, but I do prefer wearing nylon socks or tights.

Jackson is well known for stinky skates. My other coach washes her feet (she's a barefoot girl) after she takes off her skates because it's so bad.

I want to get a biohazard sticker for my skate bag because mine stinks too. I will have to ask my lab friend if she has one.

have you changed skate brands?

In the past few months i have changed from Harlicks to Klingbeils, and my boots really smell compared to the Harlicks. Haven't yet figured out what to do about it.

Also, i don't know where you are from, but in this area - Virginia - the humidity level has been worse than ever this summer, and one of the rinks in Fredericksburg VA has closed for a month due to severe mold problems. It also could be more humid where your'e at.
