Improving Balance?

With 5 hours back on ice after a 36 year "vacation" I am still working to recover my basic "staying vertical ice skills". The strength is coming back quickly but I am finding my balance isn't what it used to be and I need to work on that between on-ice sessions.

I find that just doing "floor exercises" doesn't provide the same degree of difficulty as being on blades.

Suggestions?

Dianne

Here is a great exercise you can do anytime you are standing around waiting for anything. Lift one foot just slightly and balance on the other foot for a count of 10. I added to that by then putting my weight on the ball of the foot, and then on the heel of the foot.

Another idea might be to work on your core strength, as this will help you to control your upper body while on the ice.
