How come he is allowed to lean his body forward before picking? I am told this is one of my biggest faults on toe jumps.

Maybe it's one of those things where once you can do it well, then you can do it "wrong" ? But for basic, single jumps the technique is more important in making the jump happen?

/making this up- but that sort of thing was told to us in ballet all the time.

Cool, thanks for posting...
I also found that someone posted the series of "Ice Moves" put up by ABC some time ago. I embedded those in one of my blog posts:

Cheers,
Chow

I think there's a difference between leaning and bending over, like, I've got this mental image in my head of how Plushenko picks: yes he does lean forward, but his back is straight. People who bend over at our rink, sorta hunch forwards... Besides professionals go at much greater speeds, so they need to pick back further, so maybe that's why they can lean forward.
(sessy posting from the library, where she's supposed to be studying... BAD sessy!)

Yes, I'd realised that later the night I posted about his leaning. At the speed he would be going, and the power with which he'd pull back, he'd have to lean forwards first, else he'd end up doing a backflip.

And yes, Naughty Sessy !!! Do that study.
