Jumping videos (Plus Chasse' info)

Do any of you have videos of yourself doing jumps (waltz thru axel) you would be willing to share?

I have some videos of my toe loop, waltz, flip, loop, and salchow (unfortunely I cant yet get them online) and wanted to compare my progress to see if they are sort-of close to being decent yet

Nice toe jumps Amanda (and nice combination spin, too for that matter!).

As someone who's been trying to get flip for what seems like forever, I admire anyone with good toe jumps!

This is my three jump, salchow and cherry flip from around Easter time I think

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79hME5Tnaw8

Here is me doing an axel from the Summer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRMkjSafbjY

And that's a double salchow from around Easter time again

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4ybQRdUf4Q

I don't seem to have any videos of me doing loops, flips or lutzes. I think that is becaused I am obsessed with my axels at the moment! Must remember to film them sometime though.

Ok I was finally able to upload some videos (youtube isnt working for me, but I have them on another server).

Any critques/ advice would be great! I took them all from a 3-turn entry with little speed because I wanted to make sure the camera caught it

My flip jump
http://www.nutrifitness.net/flip.MOV

A toe loop and flip jump - pretty bad but some attempts
http://www.nutrifitness.net/flipandtoe.MOV

This is my salchow the day I learned it -unfortunely it isnt much better now (the fall on the flip attempt after was just strange)
http://www.nutrifitness.net/salchow and fall.MOV
if that link doesnt work try this: http://nutrifitness.net/salchow%and%fall.MOV

My upright spin - it travels so much
http://www.nutrifitness.net/spin.MOV

A waltz-toe loop combo
http://www.nutrifitness.net/waltz-toe.MOV

A few more toe loops
http://nutrifitness.net/toeloops.MOV

What you want is http://nutrifitness.net/salchow%20and%20fall.MOV

Better is to use all lower case and replace spaces with underlines in filenames for anything on the web to make it easier to access.

I also offer accounts for skaters to upload videos and such to at http://sk8rland.com if you want one.

And your spin isn't travelling that much, good job and keep up the good work!

Congratulations on landing your lutz!!! Landing it fully rotated and on one foot took me a long time, so I know what an accomplishment that is.

Wow! Thank you for the nice comments! I first started ‘learn to skate’ one a week classes nearly 7 years ago, then did ice dance for a while and then started proper free skating lessons about 4/5 years ago I think.

Newskater - I couldn't open your videos

Katherine - I can steal my brother's camcorder and film loops, flips etc when I am next at Queens. (providing management don't tell me off - they did last time, silly rink!)

Skatingdoris - Congratulations on the lutz! That is great!

Amanda - your videos are great!

Mine are finally now working on youtube - any comments/critiques would be great (I know they arent great haha). My spins are finally back to normal and centered as of today woo hoo (they have been traveling like crazy lately) so the spin video is a lot worse than they were today (finally!)

Waltz jump and random stuff:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzK5RcfBx-c

My spin:

My flip jump (2-3 weeks after elarning it - I think its a bit better now!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdPtsKImprE

My 1st day of learning the salchow (sadly it still looks like this)

Dang!! you guys are great. Amanda, I agree that your moves are really good. You make those power pulls/one-footed slaloms look easy. Mine (okay, well, I'm just playing with them and am 2 levels away from it) are soooo shallow. It's always encouraging to me to see REAL people doing these things. I'm hoping to take my digicam to the rink tomorrow to see (horrors!!) what the heck I look like).

NewSkater: you have nice spring on your jumps! My comments are minor. For waltz jump, when you step and push to LFO, you want to have leading shoulder (L) a little bit ahead of R side, then pass both arms close to your body and behind you before springing off. From your video, you point your L arm to the center of circle and move around to behind you, which may be fine for now, but it will be hard when you move up to axel!

Amandaskategirl: that's very nice video. Love the power pulls and ease of the jumps.

Luna

This might soung like an erm...very simple question, but does anyone have any clips of them doing chasses - what ever they may be? They're on level 4 of the Skate UK Programme and I haven't got a clue what they are

I don't have a video of a forward chasse but that is a video of me doing the willow waltz and there are backward chasses in that dance. The back chasse is after the introductory steps three turn and back run.

In simple terms, a chasse is a push onto an outside edge, bring feet together and step onto the inside edge of the opposite foot and lift the free foot straight up (rather than extending behind as you would do for an ordinary push) bring feet together and push onto an outside edge of the other foot again.

I'm not very good at describing but hopefully you will see it in the clip.

Don't know if that helps at all.

Wow! I am so impressed! Nine months isn’t very long at all! I would have thought that you have been skating much longer after watching your videos!

It looks to me like you have very quick rotation on your flip which will be great when learning doubles!
