individual

Right now, Individual of the USFSA. I hate chasing around board members for their signature approvals before a deadline of a competition or a test.

I'm not sure if the rink I usually skate at has a club but I'm an ISI FS 1 certified skater and will be FS 2 soon!

What's the difference between a SC. and a Rink that has one?

A USFS club can only have one primary rink. Membership in a club is not necessary to test with ISI, but most rinks belong to ISI, since it is an organization for skaters, coaches, skating school directors, rink managers, rink operators, and skating supply manufacturers and vendors.

We belong to Streatham Ice Dance Club, Streatham Ice Figure Skating Club, and I think we are members of Alexandra Palace Ice Dance Club. At one stage we were members of Montem Ice Dance Club (Slough), but that has lapsed. However, we normally skate as from Streatham Ice Dance Club.

I'm a member of a new USFS club that just got provisional status in June- the Hampton Roads Figure Skating Club. I've also been meaning to join Washington FSC as a secondary club, but keep putting it off.

Does this mean that you're allowed to sign your own test/competition forms whenever you feel that you're ready? I think this is a great idea and why don't more skaters become individual members instead?

I think a coach's signature is still needed, though I'm not entirely sure, but no signature from any club officer is required. SCNY (Skating Club of NY) sends each member a signed permission form to copy for tests and competitions as needed, so it is not an issue with that particular club, and I wouldn't be surprised if other large clubs do the same.

Individual membership is often more expensive than club membership, thought that is not the case with SCNY.

TX, do you remember awhile back we were talking about how our coaches are kind of similar? It's really funny b/c my coach used to teach in your area. I'm sure he probably knows your coach.

Oh yeah, if anyone really cares what club I'm from, PM me and tell me why I'm not gonna post that on a public board- and, like I say every time someone posts a topic like this, I'm going to encourage any younger skaters here not to post their club either. It's really not much different from saying where you live or go to school.

I just switched this past year from Individual USFS to Charter Oak FSC (Simsbury CT) although I skate mostly at my local town Rink and in Cromwell at Champions Skating Rink - at least before I broke my kneecap 3 weeks ago!

From the Southern US....

Central Carolina Skating Club!

What a good idea about photocopying the signed test forms....I'm always chasing down our club officers.

Hey, do me a favor and let me know if your clubs ever need videography for competitions and shows...I've started a competition videography business (I work in television) and I'm hoping to add clientele over the next few months.

Thanks!
