Rinks around Fayetteville, NC?

Does anyone know if there's any rinks around Fayetteville, NC? There's a possibility of me moving there, around the Ft. Bragg area, so I'll want to see if I can get a coaching position before (if) I go.

I Googled and came up with this after a couple of tries:

http://www.rinktime.com/skating_rink...t_bragg_nc.cfm

And I found this on the Fort Bragg MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) website: http://www.fortbraggmwr.com/sportsre...nd/cleland.htm

It looks as though it's on base - but Bragg is an open post. I'd give them a call to find out (it could be that I linked to an old site and it's no longer active - I hope it's still there!).

Good luck!

is the best source for rinks. And, it shows 2:

1. Cleland Ice Rink,Fort Bragg,NC,USA
2. Crown Center Coliseum,Fayetteville,NC,USA

I'm guessing the first is the one on the base, and second is a stadium/arena that probabably isn't available for lessons/training.

OMG I can't believe I didn't know there was one on post. If this all happens, that would work out so perfectly! You rock for finding that!

I believe one or two of the coaches from the Raleigh area may go to F'ville to do classes or give lessons, but I'm guessing there would be opportunities for you. And you can always come up here to the Triangle area -- not that far a drive -- now & then too. We have loads of rinks up here.

What rinks are in that area? If I move, I'll be living on or close to Ft. Bragg, so I don't want to have to drive too far (45 minutes tops?).

Garner has the Ice House. Raleigh has the Iceplex and the RecZone. Cary has the Ice House. Wake Forest has the Factory Ice House. Probably only Garner is within your 45 minutes drive radius, though.

Bragg is - to say the least - HUGE. MASSIVE. When it absorbs Pope AFB in a year or two, I believe it will be the largest military installation in the world. So don't feel bad that you weren't aware of one on base!

And a nurse! I'm suitably impressed!

I think there are a number of rinks on big military posts. West Point actually has an online video LTS program that is really cool.

We'll see....it was a for sure thing and then it was a definitely not thing and now it's a maybe thing. Long story haha. But well, I'm not talking about it to people until I know for sure And you know how ice rinks gossip! So you can consider yourself the only person besides Leah who knows.

You're a nurse?

I'm a Navy brat (born at the Memphis Naval Air Station), AF veteran, and a nurse.

If you have red hair and are 45ish, I'm going to freak out here!

Born at Tripler Medical Center in Honolulu! We lived at the now-closed Barbours Point NAS.

Strawberry hair and 35ish - very, very close....

On the slightly freaky side, my brother lives in Memphis - so I actually know where Millington is....

Oh yeah - and as you may have guessed, I too live in NC...

OMG--I have a younger sister!

Where are you in NC? I'm near Raleigh and work at UNC-CH.
