a double toe advice thread

ok i just thought i'd share the tips i got from that cathy kasey seminar i went to a few years ago. we spent a while working on double toes, and it helped me soo much. i struggled with toe-axels for soooo long. i learned double toes reeeaaaly easily, only to find out i had learned them totally wrong. the seminar began a really long journey of fixing a toe-axel, a journey i would love to keep other people from taking.

ok so first i will show you the mark a toe axel leaves on the ice

(three turn, gap, toe-pick)

this is what a true toe-loop mark should look like

(three turn with the toe-pick mark next to it)

now, this is not to say that when you pick you pick way to the inside of the three turn. instead, when you pick, you need to keep moving through the jump and continue the edge to the toe pick and THEN kick through. it needs to be a continous motion. here's a video of a quad toe so you can see what i mean about the continuous motion http://youtube.com/watch?v=p5oFYC4wprE

here's another one i just found randomly on youtube of a good, continuous double toe

ok now i just picked a random toe-axel video off of youtube--i really hope i don't offend anyone...

this one is double toe double toe combo. the video quality isn't very good, but i think it'll be helpful because the first double toe is good, but the second jump of the combo is a toe-axel...

and this one...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Loo8q4GQXEo&feature=related (sorry sorry sorry vlaurend (aka doubletoe right?). i know this was one of your first double toes but it the only high-quality video of a toe-axel-y double toe i could find i would post videos of my own old double toe if i had any...

you guys get what i'm saying?

i'll post a few more good double toes just so you can see what i mean with the continuous motion
