Champions training at the ARCTIC EDGE ICE ARENA in Canton Michigan.
Many of the best ice dancers in the U.S and Canada will soon be training at the Arctic Edge in Canton, Michigan. Starting in the fall of 2003 Igor Shpilband and Marina Sueva formerly of the Detroit Skating Club in Bloomfield Hills, will be coaching at the Arctic Edge in Canton, Michigan. They bring with them some of the best ice dancers in the US and Canada including Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto, US World Team members and the highest ranking US dance team internationally, and Aaron Wing and Megan Lowe, Canadian World and Olympic team members as well as other newly formed senior level and high-ranking junior level teams.
These ice dancers join an existing group of US Junior and Senior National level singles and pair competitors including senior national and international competitors (and twin sisters) Alyssa and Amber Cisney, Junior National competitors (and brothers) Frank and Mike Huber, Junior National pair and singles placewinner Kendra Moyle, Junior National pair competitor Melissa Bedell, and Junior National competitor Erica Ransford.

Interesting that the arena takes credit for having pair skaters when both of these girls only skate singles there a couple times a week. The club offers no pair ice!!!!! Kendra and her partner skate at Detroit skate club and Melissa skates at some obscure club with her new partner!

A friend whose daughter takes private lessons in Canton told me that Kendra and Reed do skate in Canton, on freestyle ice, but not on a regular basis. From what I recall, they train at multiple metroDetroit locations: DSC, Ann Arbor, Canton, Chelsea and St. Clair Shores.

The whole dance program is moving and most of the teams are following Igor and Marina.

Aleksandra Kauc/Michal Zych who make their debut at Nebelhorn Trophy recently came back from US, where they've been working with Shpilband. :)
:D I believe Aaron and Megan were at Salt Lake City. They had the Beatles free dance, if I remember.

Love Wing & Lowe, but they weren't at the 2002 Olympics. The Beatles FD was from this season, where they went to Worlds.

How many websites out there do you suppose use that same "ice" background image?

looks like wrinkled paper to me, not ice. really boring.
my individual personal opinion about this "stuff" is that igor is nuts to walk in support of marina. she has not contributed anything new to igor's program in that she is not competent in technical compulsory training. she is creative. but igor is more creative. he needs a technician, not a back up creative.
however, there have been rumors of "issues" about igor too. i wish not to believe them. (and, don't bother to ask, i won't reply.)
regarding the move. does the new "dance central" rink offer the same off-ice programs, or have these top teams already gone outside the dsc off-ice programs and thus the "package" has no value?
anyone who is an insider, please reply, on thread or via pm.
thanks.

The off-ice program at DSC was very minimal. Also, the dance program was not receiving enough on-ice time at DSC as well.
At the new rink, the program will have almost double the ice time and the off-ice program will essentially remain unchanged. As far as I know, there will be the same number of off-ice classes per day, just with different instructors.

We are located in the Eastern Great Lakes region and have been getting all sorts of rumors going around about a "shake up" at DSC. Can anyone tell the truth about Chris Bowman, Alan
Schramn, and Igor. This is very disconcerting to hear misinformation about coaches who have produced some wonderful skaters. Does anyone know why these coaches have left. They all have had very fine skaters.

this is a revelation. the off-ice program was supposed to be one of the best, and i had always heard that ice-dance had all the ice needed due to the success of the program!!!

Yes the Ice dancers recieved enough training time and enough off ice classes!! I believe they recieved more than enough! The Ice Dancers were given the max in everything they needed. You also have to realize that the Ice Dancers can't always get whatever they want! There is also pairs and freestyle to worry about.

My skater tried some of the off ice at DSC and was very disappointed in the quality. Our home club's program is much stronger apparantly!
If Devin is involved in the strength training program at Canton, as I have heard, the club is very lucky!

Who is "Devin" and do you know his/her qualifications? Was he at the DSC at one time. There was a "Devin" at the Plymouth Compuware a few years back. Could it be the same person?
