According to the posted report (http://www.isu.org/vsite/vcontent/content/transnews/0,10869,4844-128590-19728-18885-91905-3787-4771-layout46-129898-news-item,00.html), one of the many items discussed at the ISU "Office Holders" conference in Spain in June was the Code of Ethics.

On July 30th there was an official ISU Communication (#1221) on the topic which can be read at this link (http://www.isu.org/vsite/vfile/page/fileurl/0,11040,4844-138357-155573-39279-0-file,00.pdf)

This is slightly old news but I just happened to notice a small news item in yesterday's "Ottawa Citizen" which referenced the new code and went looking on the ISU site.

I was away on holiday until Monday, August 11. Umpon my return I did indeed read ISU Communication #1221. The concern I have is that the new judging system (such as it is) was enacted BEFORE the passage of the ethics standards; it seems to me that shennanigans can still be "buried," albeit perhaps not as easily.

This should make for a very interesting season...the ABC TV contract with the ISU expires after Worlds in Dortmund next year. It would not surprise me if Michael Eisner (CEO of Disney, which owns ABC TV) took a cue from David D'Allesandro of John Hancock and insisted on the inclusion of a "Hancock-type" clause in the new contract with the ISU the way John Hancock Financial Services did with the USOC. Everyone knows that David D'Allesandro and John Hancock got the USOC to "straighten up and fly right" if it wanted the monies to continue, and that alone got everyone's attention.

Hmmmm...points to ponder.
