Wow! Two surprises for me.

First that Jayson Denomme is still skating. I thought he would retire after his 2003 Canadians outing.

Second, that Wakamatsu & Fecteau beat Marcoux & Buntin. Where did the Polish team come from?

As a fan of Cynthia Phaneuf (and Joannie Rochette) I was happy with the Sr Ladies SP results.

Also liked the Jr. Mens, although I would have been happy if Maxime-Billy had placed first. I like his skating and love his name!

They are the 1999 Worlds bronze medalists, and they've been in the top seven ;) at Worlds every year since 1998, I believe. They've moved to Canada this season to work full-time with Richard Gauthier, as they briefly did for the summer last year.

That means I saw them in Vancouver 2 years ago. For the life of me I can't bring up a mental picture of them. Must check the net and find a photo.

I thought they must be training in Que to participate in the competition, though. My old brain can still work out some things as I approach official fogeydom.

I don't know how she skated (yet), but she's retaining "The Promise" by Secret Garden again this season.

Thanks for the results? Does anyone know how Joannie skated? Is her lutz included in her program? Same for Cynthia-is her lutz there?

Cynthia Phaneuf landed a 3lutz in her free skate at Liberty last month to win the senior ladies FS event there. She also landed a 3toe-3toe combo in the Liberty SP warmup, but fell on the second 3toe in the program. Apparently she did the same thing this weekend in Quebec (landed the 3toe-3toe combo in the warmup but not in competition).

The lutz is included in her program and she missed it.

Utako and Seb lost to the polish team by a 4-3 split! Woowoo Wakamatsu and Fecteau!

Hopefully she'll iron out the jumps because on his own he's a force to be reckoned with, he rarely misses, I hope he's finally got a partner who can match him!!!

I did like Val though... she's doing some choreography, she helped with one of Jayson's programs before and even helped Wakamatsu and Fecteau a bit :)

Jellybean, how do you know it was a 3/4 split? Who got to see the protocol? I know a lot of people are frustrated because they won't give out the individual judges' ordinals. Like they're trying to make the judging secret at the lower levels as well!

I should probably PM you but I don't think it's a big deal... Jean- Sebastien said it was a 4-3 split... I think this was for the short program (but right now I can't remmember 100% for sure which section of the competition it was).
