This event is scheduled for August 15th - 17th at the Indiana World Skating Academy in the Pan-Am Plaza in downtown Indianapolis.
Here is the list of skaters that I have compiled so far:
Senior

Stiegler & Cording
Hinzmann & Parchem
B. Vise & Kole
Sandoval & Ibarra
T. Vise & Trent
Junior
Sharma & Keen
Hartunian & Leftheris (Nicole & Themi)
Butler & Jacobsen (Junior???)

Castile & Okolski
Harkaway & Davis
Galleher & Coughlin
Novice
Smith & Chitwood
Marsh & Avila
Strong & Charbonneau
Intermediate
Nuss & Nuss
Flatt & Speroff
Anyone else know of any teams that plan on competing here? Does anyone know if Inoue & Baldwin and/or Don & Hunt plan on competing here (I&B competed here last summer despite already having received international assignments, so I've got my fingers crossed that they'll be back again)?

Are the two intermediate teams training at DSC going? Wilson/Young and Moyle/Minney. What about Uhlig/Loomis as Jrs?

I'm behind the times here. When did the Hartunian/Leftheris teaming happen and how. When did their former partnerships dissolve? Or is there something here I'm not seeing.

I believe someone posted earlier this year about the this partnership forming (after 2003 Nationals?). Themi Leftheris split with Jackie Jimenez sometime after 2002 Nationals (she is now paired with Miguel Alegre Smith of Spain; they made their competitive debut as a senior pair at Liberty and are coached by Kerry Leitch in Florida). Nicole Hartunian & Kirk Forbes withdrew from the Junior Pairs event at 2002 Nationals.

I was told recently that as many as 20 pairs teams have registered for Indy Challenge, and quite a few dance teams too.
Should be a great competition!

Does anyone know how many our actually registed? I heard of 19 Senior pair teams! I can't even think of 19 senior pair teams in the USA

I heard the exact same thing, it will be interesting if all, if there is that many, will show up.

I dont think it is 20 SENIOR teams...just about 20 pair teams of various levels all together. I heard it was more than last year by far though.

I can, with some effort (we've got a big field at the moment), but I'd be quite certain a number of them aren't registered for Indy (those who already have GP assignments, for starters). I'd guess the 19 figure is a little high. :) Plus we have to keep in mind that a bunch who did register probably won't show up for various reasons.

The practice schedule and competition schedules have been posted on the IWSA's website. Here are the direct links:
Competition Schedule (http://www.iwsafsc.org/indychallenge2003.pdf) (This is PDF Format)
Practice Schedule (http://www.iwsafsc.org/practiceice.html)
There are 5 Novice Pair Groups listed for the practices and they'll be doing A & B groupings for the actual competition. There are 4 practice groups listed for junior pairs and there are also 4 practice groups listed for senior pairs. I've been to this event the past 2 summers and I've never seen them have more than 2 groups for senior and 2 or 3 for junior. And I can't recall them having enough novice teams to split the competition into two different groups. So it does look like quite a few teams are registered to compete here. Now whether they all actually show up and compete is definitely up in the air, lol, but I certainly am excited for the start of competition! :) This event tends to be my favorite "small" competition, so here's hoping the next 2 weeks fly by quickly. :)

More than 70 Pair teams have actually signed up for this competition!!!
That is so exciting.
It is a great rink, a wonderful city, and a unique competition.
This year should be the best Indy Challenge ever!
Haw much are tickets to Indy Challenge?
Are there any dance teams attending?

Yep, Emma and Devin split. Emma is now skating with Mike Mcpherson. Mike is going to relocate to Delaware to train with Emma, I believe they are going to compete this season - senior pairs.

Looks like a great field. I hope to be there this year. I missed last year because of the RCA Championships (Tennis).. but they moved them up this year. so yea
Do they go down as far as juvenile pairs at Indy? I don't know much about this competition but I didn't see any juvenile pairs listed on the practice groups - so does it just go down to intermediate?

Mission 99- Re your predictions- Novice pairs have been split into two groups, and these teams are not all in the same group. Also, add Smith/Chitwood to your Novice predictions. They recently won at Broadmoor Open, and reportedly look very strong.

I just saw that the novice pairs will be in two flights so here are my new predictions:
Group A:1st-Butler/Jacobson, 2nd-Strong-Charbonneau, 3rd-Gleason/Toth
Group B:1st-Vlassov/Meekins, 2nd-Smith/Chitwood, 3rd-Katz/Lynch
Also I heard that the team i had second for Junior, Uhlig/Loomis, will be scratching because she has injured her foot again. Does anyone know if that is true or not?

It's most likely true because Uhlig & Loomis are now listed as withdrawn due to injury from their JGP in Sofia, Bulgaria on the USFSA's international assignments list that was updated yesterday (8/8).

Thats to bad they got off to such a great start this season at Skate Detroit and their NAC. Is it possible for them to get another JGP later in the season??

The USFSA holds off on some assignments until pretty late, but I would expect they'll be first in line for a fill-in spot (stepping in for skaters who didn't do well enough to earn a second event) as soon as they're healthy. Missing Indy will hurt them in that regard, but the terrific NACS showing should make up for that. Too bad they probably won't be able to do two events and have a shot at the JGP Final (I dunno if that was a possibility, but stranger things have happened). I hope the injury heels swiftly enough to allow them a shot later in the season!

How many JGP slots are going to be given to those competing at Indy?

That's up to the USFSA, but the answer is probably 3-5. There are 16 JGP spots total, so if they want to leave open the option of every team doing two events (if they do well enough in their first assignment), they'd only assign a total of eight teams to initial spots. Right now we have five teams assigned with one of those guarunteed a second assignment, so there will probably be at least three other teams assigned after Indy. With the dance assignments, the USFSA has actually gone ahead and given ten couples JGP assignments, assuring that only six of them will be able to get a second event--probably going on the theory that not many of our dance teams are likely to place in the top four at their first event anyway. If they use the same logic in pairs, we might see four or five teams assigned after Indy, but then not everyone will have a shot at a second event and there will be less room for a couple like Uhlig & Loomis to be assigned later. It all depends how many pairs they want to leave with the possibility of a second event.

I just heard a rumor that the russian team of Totmianina/Maranin are trying to enter Indy now because they withdrew at Skate Detroit. Does anyone know if this is true?
Pupiczech

It wouldn't surprise me if they entered. The always enter Skate Detroit really late and are allowed to do it. I don't think it's fair though, to blow out the rest of the field. I would much rather see all of our US teams fight it out for gold.

It's true. She injured a tendon in her foot and will be in a cast for 4 weeks.

What caused them to withdraw at Skate Detroit but still skate in the exhibition? Does anyone know?

I am not sure why they scrathched short and did an exhibition. They did all the short program practices and did run throughs of it too! They looked pretty strong in practice and I liked their short, however i did not like their show program.

I'm just wondering if the power outage is having any effect on Indy-have they lost any judges who are unable to get their flights, or any competitors for the same reason?

I can't remember the results for the short program beyond the top 4:
Short Program:
1)Spielberg & Joeright
2)Hinzman & Parchem
3)B. Vise & Kole
4)T. Vise & Trent
and Evora & Ladwig were either 5th or 6th IIRC. As for the Vise sisters, they actually ended up tied, but the tie breakers broke the tie (I think on the very last tie breaker 13 to 12).
Free Skate:
1)Spielberg & Joeright (all 1st place ordinals except 2 judges)
2)B. Vise & Kole (had one first place ordinal and I believe it was 6/2)
3)Hinzman & Parchem (had one first place ordinal and I believe it was 7/3 or 6/3)
4)Evora & Ladwig
5)T. Vise & Trent
6)Sandoval & Ibarra
7)Rogeness & Rogeness
Not sure about the rest.
