This is a thread that's been going on in both the "off-topic" and the "on ice - skaters" forums. You ask any question you want, then the next person to reply answers it and asks their own question, etc. Ok, I'll start:

Who is your favourite eligible skater?

Sho
07-27-2003, 07:24 PM
Thats a really hard question! I really can't pick, yags, plushie....so many others!

What was youre favorite Skating Scandal??? or the Most Memorable

IrishDancer
07-27-2003, 07:57 PM
Mine is the Nagano Olympics. As far as scandals goes, there have been worse, but I'm obsessed with Bourne and Kraatz and Irish dancing, and the ultimate combination of both, Riverdance. So there.

If you can't, do you wish you could skate?

leap of faith
07-27-2003, 09:06 PM
I wish I was a pairs skater.

What is your favourite jump?

icenut84
07-29-2003, 06:06 AM
Waltz jump! It's the best and most consistent. Out of the single jumps, my favourite to do is the flip, but it's not consistent.

What was your favourite programme from last season?

IrishDancer

I really liked Sasha's SP and Grushina & Goncharov's free dance.

Which is your favourite discipline?

My favorite discipline to skate is dance, but to watch ODs and FDs tie with singles.

What is the one program of any discipline that will stick in your mind forever?

skatepixie

thats hard. The program that made me a skating fan was moonlight sonata but I dont remember it well. So Ill say Sasha's R&J.

Do you like G&G or S&P better?

leap of faith
07-29-2003, 02:36 PM
S&P but I can't really put a finger on why.

Current skaters? mens - Plushenko. ladies - not sure. Maybe Irina Slutskaya, Viktoria Volchkova, Carolina Kostner?

What is your opinion of Michelle Kwan?

Spark
07-30-2003, 11:30 AM
Michelle Kwan is a beautiful skater, and has been my favourite for years. I don't think she has as much natural talent as some of the other top skaters, especially when it comes to jumping, but her connection to the music is wonderful. At times I didn't like a piece of music when I first heard it, but came to appreciate it after seeing her interpret it on the ice.

Who do you think interprets Rach's Piano Concerto No. 2 (used in S&P's 'Orchid' program, Lu Chen's 96 LP, and many other skaters' programs) best?

Sasha.

Who is yr fav pro skater?

Stormy

Brian Boitano. He's pretty much the reason I started skating (him & Nancy Kerrigan)

Who wore your favorite costume (in each dicipline, if you want)? :)

It's so difficult to pick just one favourite, even one from each discipline! I've tried though, and I'd have to say my all-time favourites include:
Katia Gordeeva, 94 Olympics gala (Reverie)
Sasha Cohen, 03 Worlds SP (Malaguena) and 02 Olympics SP (My Sweet and Tender Beast)
Maria Butyrskaya, 01 Worlds LP
Jayne Torvill, 82 Worlds OD (Summertime)
Anton Sikharulidze, 98 Olympics LP (Dark Eyes)
Berezhnaya & Sikharulidze, 02 Olympics EX (The Kid) and Elena's LP dress (Meditation)

etc etc etc...

Out of all the Carmen programmes, which is your favourite?

Calgary88
07-31-2003, 11:57 AM
Hate to say it but I'll have to say Katarina Witt's interpretation of Carmen in 1988. I was pulling for Debi Thomas but Witt's was much better choreographed.

If you could spend one day with a skater who would it be?

StarshineXavier
07-31-2003, 12:39 PM
Jeff Buttle. I absolutely adore him, and would love to be able to spend an entire day with him, instead of the 2 hours of watching him skate when I went up to Mariposa in March.

Who do you think will make the podium at worlds in March? (any discipline)

Ximena
07-31-2003, 03:09 PM
Men: Plushenko
Ladies: Irina or Michelle (I still don't think anyone else is close to touch them)
Pair: Totmianina/Marinin
Dance: Denkova/Staviyski

Who do you think it's going to make the Russian men team for the upcoming Euros and Worlds (there are lots of skaters and only three spots)

Calgary88

I'll be conservative and say Plushy, Yags, and Abt.
