Well, the most interesting thing I notice here is Roman Serov's name on the list. Evidently he's given up his idea of skating for the U.S. and will represent Israel (the country his wife represented) instead. I hadn't heard that until now. I'm glad to see it--although it would have been nice to have him representing the U.S., skating for Israel will provide him with easier international opportunity.

"8. W/Fecteau"
Why so low? I have a feeling this team will be in the hunt for medals.
It would be neat if F/R won! I like that team.

Agree. Don't see B/Davison ahead of W/Fecteau. Ber/Davison are not very strong.

Well I have seen neither team, but those are just my predictions. All I know is B/Davison did well at Canadian nats and Wakamatsu/Fecteau have never competed before, at all, if I am remembering correctly. Feel free to make your own predictions...

I think that Bergeron & Davison's good placement at Canadians was the result of: the luck of her landing the triple toe in the short program (the only clean one I saw all week); a weak field; and the inexplicably harsh judging of Poirier/Sturdy. I'm not saying that B&D didn't deserve 5th, but that it's not really indicative of future success unless Pascale's jumps have really improved.
Wakematsu & Fectau have competed once, at Quebec sectionals, where they easily beat B&D in the short (with marks in the 5.3-5.5 range) and won a 3-2 split in the free. New Canadian pairs seem to have a pretty good history at Nebelhorn, too (Marcoux/Marcotte, Marcoux/Buntin).
My predictions for the event:
Ladies:
1. Kettunen
2. Naidenova
3. Corwin
4. Dorofejev
5. Don
Men:
1. Serov
2. Van Der Perren
3. Andreev
4. Smith
5. Laroche or Young
Pairs:
1. Wakematsu/Fectau (what the heck...Canadians have won pairs at Nebelhorn the past three years...let's see if the trend will continue)
2. Kuzmina/Evdokimov
3. Fitze/Rex
4. Spielberg/Joeright
5. Handy/Allen
Dance:
1. Kulikova/Novikov
2. Gudina/Beletski
3. Beier/Beier
4. Moxley/Kirsanov
5. Longpre/Zukiwsky

Nice to see Kierkgaard & Jeschke competing! I haven't heard anything about them in so long I was afraid they were no longer together!
Also looking forward to the debut of Wakamatsu & Fecteau....I think they'll medal here.
The practice reports of Fedor Andreev sound promising, I hope he medals here!
How many more sleeps until Nebelhorn?
