I am trying to put together a list of senior dance teams who might be at sectionals and nationals this year. So far I have:

Teams for Lake Placid:

Gibbons/Pekarek E
G/Bommentre E
Nussear/Forsyth E or M???
Manon/O'Meara M
Magerovsky/Magerovsky M
R/Rey E
May/Latyshev E
Munana/Munana P
Snyder/Traxler M

Teams that have other plans during Lake Placid?

Belbin/Agosto bye
Gregory/Petukhov bye
Galler-Rabinowitz/Mitchell bye
Navarro/Shmalo P
Moxley/Kirsanov bye

Please help me fill in the sections for the unknown teams... thanks! :)

Sooo Sectionals will look like this:

E- G/Pekarek, G/Bommentre, R/Rey, M/Latyshev
M- M/O'Meara, M/Magerovsky, S/Traxler
P- N/Shmalo, M/Munana

Unknown: N/Forsyth

Moxley/Kirsanov were recently added to the USFSA's Reserve team. Hopefully they will be able to compete at Nebelhorn as assigned (after not being able to do either of their 2 assignments last season -- due to his citizenship issues?). Navarro/Shmalo may have declined Nebelhorn because of the timing or perhaps their dances are not ready, etc.

Gibbons/Pekarek M
G/Bommentre E
Nussear/Forsyth E?
Manon/O'Meara M?
Magerovsky/Magerovsky ?
R/Rey ?
May/Latyshev E?
Munana/Munana P?
Snyder/Traxler M?

Wouldn't Manon/O'Meara do Coasts since his AZ connection; and May/Latyshev do Mids since that's where she's from?

Here are my guesses. Easterns looks fairly packed, if my assumptions are correct. Are there any others?

Navarro/Shmalo -Pac
Manon/O'Meara -Pac?
Munana/Munana -Pac

Gibbons/Pekarek -Mids
May/Latyshev -Mids?
Snyder/Traxler -Mids?

Matthews/Zavozin -East
Moxley/Kirsanov -East
G/Bommentre -East
Nussear/Forsyth -East

Belbin/Agosto -bye
Gregory/Petukhov -bye
Galler-Rabinowitz/Mitchell -bye

Magerovsky/Magerovsky ?
R/Rey ?

A new rule was passed at the last Governing Council that the top 6 senior skaters/teams at Nationals, not top 3, are given byes through Regionals and Sectionals.

The reasoning was that the top 6 are given senior international assignments (well, mostly senior) and since the USFSA would consider top 6 at Nationals to be competitive internationally, there would be no doubt they could qualify for Nationals. Rather than burden athletes with internationals and regionals/sectionals, give them a bye to let them focus on their international performances.

I believe it was to go into effect immediately, although this could have been one of those rules that goes along with the 12/4 qualifying system since under that system, only 3 skaters from each sectional will advance to Nationals. Trivia: it was proposed by Derrick Delmore on behalf of the athlete committee.

By that logic, Moxley/Kirsanov would receive a bye as they finished 6th in Dallas.

Galler-Rabinowitz and Mitchell aren't doing Lake Placid to prepare for Skate Canada

Aren't Gibbons and Pekarek now representing The Skating Club of Boston (in which case they'll be at Easterns, not Midwesterns)?

Well, last year they were training in Maryland, but Justin was still was a member of the DSC.

Most likely he has retained his Detroit SC membership so they can continue to qualify out of Mids rather than go to Easterns.

If there's a "you have to be a member of SCoB to train there" clause, the SCoB may have a secondary membership program (my club does) so that the skater can have a different primary club. At my club, skaters from other clubs use it to reduce costs at test sessions and have access to club ice.

But this is all speculation...we'll find out when the Sectional rosters are posted!

Well, they're listed as representing The Skating Club of Boston at Lake Placid. I think they could still do Midwesterns (I believe that Cepican and Lichtor will do this), but my guess is they'll do Easterns.

Edited since the Lake Placid results came up... the ones without question marks are teams where both partners are members of the same section.

Can anyone tell me why Brandon and Emily would be at Easterns instead of Mids? On the Lake Placid site she is listed as Individual Member and he represents the Detroit Skating Club. Just curious.

Individual members still have to represent a specific region, and last season Emilie's membership was in the New England region. (That's how she and Gates, who was a Dallas FSC member, were able to compete at Easterns.) Granted, she could have changed that, but odds are she's stuck with the same region and she and Brandon have the option of doing Easterns. If that's the case, they don't have to decide until the September 1st deadline.

If Justin's Home Club and Hillary's Home Club is Boston then they must do Easterns, even if he still retains a membership with Detroit.
You can belong to an endless number of clubs, but you represent your Home Club at qualifyings.

Right. I didn't see that Justin had changed his home club until after I posted! They will be at Easterns, since you can't change home clubs after June 30th. (At least that's what my club does.)

As for Cepican and Lictor, Samantha has retained her home club membership with Skokie Valley FSC (one of the Chicago clubs) so they can compete at Mids.
