Woohoo! There's a thread on a competition that I'm doing! That's actually pretty exciting.
I've never done this one but it looks like it should be fun and gives me an excuse to spend a summer weekend in Vermont.

Rinsk, are you doing Lake Placid too?

No, I'm not doing Placid :-(. It required taking time off that I couldn't get. Champlain Valley was all weekend which I could arrange my work/school schedule around. We'll have to compete solo dance some other time, CanAm skater.
I'm doing novice restricted (ha! yeah, jumps aren't really my strong point, let's just say), showcase and a dance event.

Waaah:cry: , wish I was there compete against you in solo dance Rinsk, not going after all since no $$$$, just got back from vacation and dh wants to go to the Highland games in beautiful downtown Maxville this weekend.
Will definately be competing adult silver free in Pottsdam in Dec so everybody be there!! Maybe solo dance if I get my act together (although I hope it's not Quickstep...I'm getting so tired of that dance!)

But, Madame Saccoche, what act do you need to get together. You've done enough of these competitions: you're probably Quickstepping in your sleep...
I will definately be looking forward to competing with you later in the season (though Pottsdam may be January next year according to the Northern New York Skating Council site). We'll try coordinate to do the same competitions.
Have fun at the highland games (hagis, anyone?).

Madame's memory is not what it once was due to her advancing years hence the memory of Quickstep is erased (erased or repressed you decide) once she ceases to practice it, besides which she's been doing freestyle most of the summer due to a lack of dance session ice.
If Pottdam will be in January then I guess I won't go to Plattsburgh.
BTW , Madame has apprehended the aliens who stole her axle but they still won't give it back to her:x

Hi, NickB.
Thanks for your excellent reports and all the hard work that went into producing them. I hope more skaters would sign up for next year's Champlain Valley Open because of your excellent reports!
I also think Emily Young to be one of the most talented skaters ( and, certainly the most beautiful one) of her age group. I wish more skaters had her beautiful quality of edge and elegant balletic style.
I wish Emily the best of luck this year.

I'll second the thank you to Nick B. for the work you put into the reports. It was a good competition in terms of quality of skating out there and even though I was disappointed not to be dancing in Lake Placid, I had a great time.
A note about comparing the senior ladies to the lower levels: this seems to be a competition that attracts more competitive skaters from the lower levels. Remember that the senior freestyle test is such that a serious competitor at as low as novice or intermediate (or maybe juvenile?) could probably get through it. I don't really know anything about either of the two senior skaters, but seeing as they chose this competition over one of the summer competitions that usually attracts a larger and stronger senior field, they may very well be skaters who passed their senior tests to get their gold levels and enjoy competing but not at the "competitive" senior level.
I only saw Emily Young's showcase but I remember being very impressed by her presence and style. This girl has incredible potential.
