I'm not starting a rumour, and this is probably very unrealistic, but I thought about this earlier today and found the idea very interesting....
what do you think about the team of Belbin/Tchernyshev!!?!?
I love Tanith and Ben and would hate to see them break up, but can you imagine how good B/T could be?!?!
Just a thought...

Not to put down your idea or anything, but well I honestly don't think that would work at all. First of all the age difference is a bit creepy, and each of them would hit their peaks at totally different times, maybe if they were in a closer age bracket it could be possible. But there are also other things to consider, like Peter trained at the Kirov ballet, and Tanith obviously has little or no ballet experience, and their lines and style wouldn't go very well together. On top of that B/A are known for not being on par w/ the other seniors in the CD's while L/T are known for excelling at CD's, so that would be a bit of a mis-match in that portion of competition. Realistically I don't think it would work, but hyopthetically if they were closer in age, and Tanith had some ballet training, who knows? It would be interesting if Lang paired up with Agosto and Peter paried up with Tanith and if they competed against each other, who would win. I consider both Peter and Ben the stronger partners (but not nearly by a mile) In terms of body type L/A would be a better match, but Peter is the strongest dancer out of the 4, so you never know, and both Naomi and Peter have more maturity and experience and it might show and make both pairs look mis-matched. Either way I think each of them belong with their perspective partners.

I think that Igor almost put those two together at one time. Yes, they would make a terrific look. She is very tall and long and would fit Peter better than she does with Ben. The age difference has absolutely nothng to do with it. He looks younger than he is and she looks older than she is. As far a ballet experience, all ice dancers have ballet training at DSC and would have little or nothing to do with a match between Tanith and Peter. Did Naomi have ballet experience? As far as CD's who cares, you can always learn CD's maybe Peter could improve Tanith's CD's.
The only difficulty with Peter teaming with Tanith is that they both demand to be the center of attention in dance and also they couldn't go to the Olympics for any country because of citizenship problems.

Butterfly, there is quite a bit of difference between DSC ballet *classes* and the Kirov ballet *training* There is a diffence between taking ballet ocassionally to help with a sport, and actually training as a dancer. And yeas Naomi has trained as a dancer. Peter is known for his classical ballet style, lines, and extention, and Tanith hasn't shown a glimpse of that at all. IMO her lines and posture need more work than Ben's. I mentioned the age difference because it would matter, even if some didn't consider it creepy. He is much older than her, and they would probably hit their prime at 2 completley different times. His maturity and his experience over hers would be glaring and obvious.

Actually, Naomi was a dancer before she ever thought of ice skating. She trained very seriously for many years, then turned to ice dancing for a variety of reasons. She is extremely talented in both disciplines.

It is obvious to me that Naomi has more of a trained dancers control of her movements and her posture, than Tanith.
Peter is getting a little long in the tooth to begin a new partnership for competitive icedance, but if he wasnt so tall he would be awesome with Pasha! She is still young enough.

Butterfly Igor never thought even remotely of putting Peter and Tanith together.

I do think that Peter has reached his "prime" already. He would be lucky to have Tanith as a partner. It would give the old man some life. Creepy has nothing to do with the age thing. She may not be a ballerina, but she has charisma and presence on the ice and that is more important that some Russian ballet training. Guess what she is also part of the team that is the national silver medalist and also beat dear ole Peter in Worlds.
I didn't know that Peter was known for his classical ballet style I thought he was known for his sexy looks :).
On the subject of ballet training...how many dancers have trained with the Kirov ballet. I don't think that that is a prerequisite to success in ice dancing.
Don't get me wrong I'm not particularly fond of Tanith and I do think Peter is excellent, but I do think you are way off base with your analysis.
BTW, Igor did consider putting Tanith and Peter together...even for a brief moment long ago.

Okay Butterfly...there is no need to get bent out of shape...I'm not trying to take away from her accomplishments, and I'm not saying Peter is an "old man" by any means. I'm just saying that IMO it wouldn't make sense for a skater past his prime to get together with a skater that hasn't even hit theirs yet. There wouldn't be a lot of longevity in that partnership. L/T are known for their balletic dancing, and I couldn't imagine Tanith hitting some of the positions that Naomi does (again, not a slam against Tanith because she does very many other things well) I never said training at the Kirov ballet was a prerequisite for ice dancing, but you sounded as if DSC ballet classes is comparable to Kirov ballet training, when that is way off base. Peter has said himself that he had such trouble finding a partner because most of the people he had tried out with didn't have a balletic style. That's just a preference. IMO Peter and Tanith wouldn't look good together because their expression doesn't match, and neither would their lines or style. That's just my opinion, it's not right or wrong, just my opinion. Maybe if Tanith got together with Peter 5 or 6 years ago and she was trained to have a style like Peter's it would work, But if she got with Peter when she was like 13 or 14 THAT would be creepy. Again JMO.

No dear Butterfly, Igor wasn't the one making the calls on who Peter was going to skate with at any time, ever. Please understand that I don't want to argue about it, just to clarify.
