I just received the list of teams for Lake Placid, and it seems like all the levels (Juvenile-Senior) have alot of new teams, as well as some old...Any idea who the contenders are for all the events?:?:

I'm betting Emilie and Brandon at Senior, even though they aren't really a "new" new team, should be very strong. It should be interesting to see if Hilary Gibbons/Justin Pekarek have changed since they left MD for MA.... interesting match of a team... not sure I understand it, but it's not my place to comment on who skates with who.
I'm very curious about some of the other senior teams that are new together... Lydia Manon/Ryan O'Meara, Alexandra Snyder/Nick Traxler, Brittany May/Denis Latyshev and The Magerovsky's are all, if I'm correct, people that have been around for a while, but now have new partners... should be an interesting event.....
I wish I was going to watch... if anybody is there, reports would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

i think there are a number of canadian teams in the junior roster (i don't have a senior list). maybe novice, too.
i've been facilitating the usa lists with reader contributions, but some names don't ring a bell, so to speak.
it would be useful for list update if someone could offer if these teams are new usa or canadian.
novice: usa or canadian?
reed/reed
koesiag/self
segien/lilly
martin/manion
mesa/leighton
kempf/cook
summerset/pennington
junior: usa or canadian?
chong/barnes
carter/overchuk
reyes/wright
rivard/rainville
(just found the senior list that was posted earlier.)
senior: usa or canadian?
stovold/fotheringham
piche/denis
longpre/zukwisky
menard/boucher

Canadian -- they competed novice at Lake Placid last summer, had a very entertaining folk dance.
carter/overchuk
American -- Stacy Carter skated with Denis Latyshev last year
senior: usa or canadian?
stovold/fotheringham
piche/denis
longpre/zukwisky
All Canadians... I think Piche & Denis are the 4th place senior Canadian team (They were on a 4Cs broadcast a couple years ago.)? Longrpre/Zukwisky 5th? Stovold/Fotheringham were somewhere in the middle in juniors.
buck/nelson-bond
Australian National Champions the past two years (I think they were televised during the Goodwill Games).
magerovsky/magerovsky
American (but he was at junior worlds (?) or a senior GP event (?) skating for Russia
Anyway, those are the ones I recognize

Wouldn't it be neat if L/Z beat P/D? I know it's not gonna happen, but I can continue to dream of a real competition between Canadian ice dancers. (Granted I suppose P/D truly are a more competitive team.)

Well, Anne S, be ready for some action in canadian ice dancing!
There will be some rivalry between Longpré/Zukiwsky and Piché/Denis this season.. canadians will be great!

It would be nice to see them do well this year. Justin is a very nice skater & it was unfortunate to read all the nasty personal comments directed their way last year. Looks like they are off to a good start with their Lake Placid FD.

I have to admit that I was one of the doubters when I heard Justin and Hillary had teamed up. I just figured Hillary had somehow bullied Justin into skating with her, but I was VERY surpirsed at how quickly she's improved. It's obvious she's been working extremely hard to catch up to him. I just hope that she doesn't have to deal with what happened to Naomi all through her career, the constant "she's not good enough for him" comments that NEVER quit. Hillary isn't quite there yet, but I have a feeling next year will be very good for them. I expect we'll still see some random nervous mistakes from them, this year (like her weird slip during the footwork in their OD at Placid... which after it she shot him a dirty look.. not sure what that was about) But by next year, I imagine they will be real challengers.

I think the fact that Hilary passed all of her dance tests in just one year proves that she is extremely talented, and I personally think that they make a great team.
