I am not sure which section this should go in so I thought I would try this one first.

Now I am looking to make skating chocolates. I already work for a guy who makes corporate chocolates, other types with logos, pictures and the like (now you should be jealous) but I am wanting to get a mould made so I can do them at home myself to sell at my rink for fundraising for the local club and to make a little bit of money for myself.

Now does anyone already do this? Or do they have a suggestion where I could get copyright free material that I could use for the basis of a mould? I have already traced outlines of pictures of skaters from books (like layback spins or spreadeagles) to use as potential artwork. And as a little marketing survey, do people think this is a good idea and would you buy this kind of thing yourself?

Your ideas and suggestions most appreciated. And if this thread should go in another forum I don't mind if it is moved.

Hey, Aussie Willy.

I think that's a great idea.

Great for gifts, competitions, etc.

I remember when I visited Colorado Springs a decade ago,
I visited a glass-blowing firm that made figurines especially
for the World Junior Championships which were on at the time.

Cheers

Nick

I know at the 1996 Worlds in Edmonton, the VIPs had chocolate skates
as a gift in their hotel room, given to them by the ISU. They may have been made by a local Edmonton company.

How about chocolate medals wrapped in gold foil?

This sounds soooo cool. Of course I would probably not eat them because they would be soooooo cute!!!!

In Avon, Connecticut there is a small shop called Molds and More. They specialize in the material to make your own confections. Perhaps they could put you on to a manufacturer of chocolate molds or perhaps have a catalog of a company that already makes them. They would be worth giving a call... and they are in the phone book.

Poohsk8s2 - I already work for someone who does this so that is why I have the idea so I would get the molds done here. But do you have a website address for them because they sound like they are worth contacting? (also I am in Australia so phoning is probably not a good idea). I might try searching for them though.

And thanks for the ideas. Please keep them coming.
