Definitely not SCanada. Only 3 Cdn pairs can compete, and P/W, L/A and M/B are these 3.

I'm sure they'll get something before nationals, maybe Nebelhorn or Vienna Cup?

Has Hjordis Lee even passed all her pairs tests yet? She can't get any assignments until she's officially a senior pairs skater, I'd think...

Haha. No kidding. I saw an interview with the two of them on CBC a few weeks ago, and they look so good together!! They didn't show anything besides a few lifts and death spirals...But I think they looked great.

Haribobo,

Does Hjordis have to try ALL of her pairs test to become a Senior Pairs Skater? Or does she only have to try her Senior Pairs Test?

I don't know for sure if the system is the same in Canada, but here in the U.S., skaters have to pass all the tests in order. In fact, I'm pretty sure I remember hearing that Jennifer Don, who began pairs skating just a few months before her first competitive season, had to pass all her pairs tests (preliminary through senior) in a single day--she had one shot or she would have been out for the season, because her partner was already tested to the senior level. Talk about pressure! I doubt Hjordis is working under the same kind of deadline, and for an accomplished skater I wouldn't imagine she'll have too much trouble with the tests if they're well-prepared.

I believe she only has to pass her senior test.

Yes, she only has to pass the Senior test to be able to compete. In Canada, if you pass a test at a level without having passed the ones below that level, you are basically 'grandfathered' and are allowed to compete at that level.

If memory serves me correctly, to take your pairs test (at any level) you must skate the long program. I can't remember if there are still specific elements to be tested as a separate part of the test. But, if Hjordis had to take her Pre-Novice, Novice, and Junior tests before she took the Senior test, she'd have to skate a whole whack of long programs. 8O

If its the same in the States ... poor Jennifer Don! That must have been one heck of a longggg day!

For the pairs test you still have to do a short and a long program... there are no elements skated in a competitive test in Canada, just a program (singles) or two programs (pairs). However, as I said above, she doesn't have to do all of the levels, she only has to do the senior test, because that is the level she wants to compete at.

There is one program (long) to be skated in order for one to pass a pair competitive test.

And in dance a skater only has to do his/her free dance.
