Hello, Everyone

I am just wondering what is Elizabeth (Liz) Manley doing now? Is she offically retired? Is she coaching now? Who is her students where she coaches at? Where is she coaching & living now? How is her left ankle - I remember awhile back she broke it in several places right before she toured on the "SK8 with Elvis" tour. Does she have a boyfriend? Any updates on Liz would be very much appreciated. Just a fan of hers I hardly hear anything about her now.

Thank you & have a very nice day.

Bye for now,

Heather (Karategirl0077) :roll: :roll: :lol::roll:

Last time I heard she was coaching at Ice Works (Aston, PA). She seemed to be doing quite well - especially after her surgery. Hope that helps ;)

At least as of March, Liz was a full time staff coach at Ice Works in Aston, PA. She directed a show they put on anually called the Ice Works Figure Skating Extravaganza. She skated a number in the show to Madonna's "Music" She did well, but was exhausted at the end! She also invited Debbie Koegel and Oleg Feduikov, Besedin and Polishchuk and Elvis to skate. It was a great show and the kids were awesome too! There was a video for sale of the entire show including a few small interviews done by Digital Memories out of Delaware. Digital Memories Web site (http://www.photoreflect.com/scripts/prsm.dll?storefront?b=1&c=02BP)

Liz will also be involve in a high performance seminar in August. You can find out more here Ice Works Web Site (http://www.iceworks.net/)

Hope this helps you a bit!

WOW, now I can't for that issue now - I find nowadays they hardly don't have anything on Canadian Skaters anymore - I wonder why ??

Thank you very much for letting me know - I will keep my fingers crossed that it comes in the mail very shortly. I will look for it for sure now.

Thank you again,

Heather

I was watching Liz on an old tape of the Ryder Ladies Competition from several years ago. She had a great performance to "The Impossible Dream" where she landed 3toe, 3sal and 2axel. She really did have a lot of personality on the ice and was usually really fun to watch.

Hello,

That is why I love watching her skate / perform - she has that spunk about her. Her programs are just so much fun / elegant to watch. Just recently I burned a CD that has some of her songs that she skated to - I was thinking of mailing it to her - I would love to give her that in return what she meant to me for so many years when I saw her skate when she brought a smile to my face plus everytime when I did meet her in person she was so very nice & kind to me. So far I have met her 3 times - & everytime she is just so nice - The last time we met she even remembered my name & that I was just recently married - she even asked me "How was married life?" !! - lol!! I was lost of words - lol !

Liz was on TV a couple of times recently (tho not skating!) in relation to the Olympics. The first time was just before the 2010 announcement, when CBC did a profile on Emily Manley, Liz's neice. Emily is an up-and-comer who hopes to be competing in 2010. They also focussed on one of Liz's students who's the same age as Emily (an American, can't remember her name, sorry) and they talked about how interesting (!) it would be if Liz had a neice and a student competing against each other.

The second time was shortly after the 2010 announcement. They were focussing on past Canadian Olympic accomplishments. Liz talked about how wonderful, and terrifying, it was to skate in front of a home town audience.

Artemis,

Just wondering...was it Shayna Syken? She's got a website here: Shayna Syken (http://www.sparkleteddy.com/shaynasyken/photos.html)

She was in the IW Skating Extravaganza I was mentioning before...she did pretty good...actually there is quite a bit of talent at that rink! Anyways if you look under the photo gallery you see pictures of Liz with Shayna.

Sorry witewave, I just don't know. It might have been her, it might not. I confess I was really only paying attention to Liz.

Is she still skating?

As far as I know I don't think she is really still skating unless something comes up like the Elvis tour. I think she is primarily teaching in Aston.

Anyone know what happened? Did she retire?

She didn't officially "retire" from skating, but she cut back her performing schedule quite a while ago, and I don't think she's competed for many years. She is 38 after all, and she's had more than her fair share of injuries over the past 10 years or so.

I remember the last time Liz competed in a skating event (Canadian Open a few years ago), the commentators mentioned she had a pretty bad groin injury.

Also, didn't someone mention Liz skated with a broken foot during Elvis' tour last fall (ouch!)

Sounds like Liz has had some pretty bad injuries recently...I hope she's finally able to fully recover from them!

It's good to hear that Liz is coaching and sounds like she's doing well.

I saw her about 8? years ago in Cinderella on Ice. She was wonderful!

Is she feeling old?

Liz's "Uninvited" program is one of the best of all time, in my opinion. Skated with huge conviction, passion, and the deepest possible expression. It was almost frightening, especially since it was such a departure for her. Thanks, Liz, for giving me the shivers whenever I see that program!

Uninvited was an amazing number for her. I had the privledge of seeing it live during an Elvis Tour show quite a few years ago and remember sitting there w/my mouth open. Liz was always known for perky number and....It was such a wonderful number for her. Gives me the chills to this day.

FSWer...If you look up the thread, you'll see your questions have been answered.

I also saw her Legend of The Falls program Live during the "Elvis Tour Of Champions" - & all I can is Wow, that is for sure a breathtaking performance by her - another one I like was the "Impossible Dream" program which she dedicated to her late good friend Brian Smith who was tragically killed while he was walking out of CJOH building and someone shot him. Very sad !!

I was just curious - does Liz have a boyfriend - I know she was dating Brent Theobald awhile back - didn't know if she had anyone special in her life now?

Also, if I wanted to mail something to Liz I guess the address to mail it would be at the place she is a Full Time Coach - which is at the ---

Ice Works Skating Complex
701 W Duttons Mill Road
Aston, PA 19014

Would anyone know of a better place to mail something to her then where she a Full Time Coach ?

Thank you -

My favourite performance of Legends was when she used it as her technical program for the Sears Open (around 97 or so ... can't remember for sure the year but she won the technical program with it). I think it was the first performance of it, and it was breathtaking. In addition to her amazing interpretation of the music, her jumps were all dead on.

Liz is without a doubt one of the nicest people I've met in skating. A lot of the 'top' skaters have a great 'public' personna.....but are real jerks on a personal level (sorry to burst your bubbles). She's coached my daughter in the past when she was down here, and my daughter (and we) think she's great!

She's a wonderful person and is a terrific coach as well, and I think she's found a great home for herself at her rink in PA. We wish her all the best!

From a friend in Florida.
