Our coach just got an e-mail on Tuesday saying that there is a change in the compulsory Dances for Novice and Junior at Lake Placid. In particular, Novice is only going to be doing the European Waltz and Paso for 1st round, then a draw between Euro & Paso for the second round. Can anyone else confirm this?

Yes the dances for Novice will be European and Paso and they will be both be skated in the intial and final round

Errrrr... Quote: "*only* the Paso ....."
Aaaarrrrgggghhhh! What a killer dance - how could they bring it in at that level - eeek! I think you will see a lot of Pasos with tiny patterns and zero kneebend and partnerships where you could "drive a bus between them". Why not a Tango or something similar?

There are no other changes other than in Novice and Jr compulsory where one dance has been eliminated

IMO, since LP will determine some of the remaining JGP slots, they should have kept all 4 dances for the juniors. We will probably see this every July when the USFSA announces the dances to be used for the rest of the year. Some of the novice skaters could have benefited by watching the juniors do the same dance.

I see the competition groups for all the events except the Senior Comp, OD and FD.....?
Is there any reason for this?
Thanx

The only groups posted are for those events that had to be split because of the number of entries. We are all waiting to see the practice groups so that we know who the seniors are.

They probably wont even give out that information until the competition starts and people are already registered.....
Wonder why.......
Does anybody know who has signed up to do Senior?

Wonder why....... Putting together a competition isn't easy. You have to schedule time for the competition events and then schedule the practice time for each event. You can save money and time by having larger practice groups. Once you publish the groups, then the coaches can start complaining about the size of the groups and the early or late practice times.

I would guess among the Seniors would be:
Kendra Goodwin/Brent Bommentre
Lydia Manon/Ryan O'Meara
Hilary Gibbons/Justin Pekarek
