The Dallas Morning News had the following article to celibrate Canada Day.

Figure Skating reference:
"The 2002 Winter Olympics gave us Canadian pairs skaters David Pelletier and Jamie Salé, who won the silver and then the gold because of a voting scandal involving a French judge. Their grace under pressure – and refusal to bad-mouth the other gold-grabbing pair – made us proud to be, well, close to Canada.
Also of note: Olympian Kurt Browning, perhaps the only male figure skater in history who could be described as "macho"; big-headed, little-bodied, quad-jumping Elvis Stojko; gold-medal hockey star Mario Lemieux; former Edmonton Oilers goalie Grant Fuhr, the first black player to have his name on the Stanley Cup; and approximately 436 other Canadians made famous by maneuvering around on two thin blades."
