I was looking into buying tickets for this year's Skate Canada. Does anyone know (or can anyone guess) which section the Kiss & Cry will be in?

I was also wondering (since I've never gone to a competition before). Where does everyone prefer to sit?...corner, ends, close to K&C, center ice?

Thanks a lot!

I don't think you can pick where to sit.

I think I would rather sit on the side of the judges, because most of the skater's choreography tend to be directed toward that side.

Sorry, I probably should have explained before...I know you can't pick where you want to sit...but I'm trying to find tickets. So if there's a really good place to sit, or a really bad place, then I'll try not to buy those tickets. Do you know how you can tell where the judges side will be, and where the k&c will be??

The Kiss and Cry is often at the end of the ice where the Zamboni comes on. You could try to find out how other figure skating events in the same arena have been set up in the past, and chances are it will be the same.

Having attended Skate Canada in 2000 when it was held in Miss. I can tell you exactly where the Kiss & Cry will be located. Providing its the same set up when it was held back in 2000.

If you look on the map of the Hershey's Center, The Kiss & Cry Area is near

Section: 11

The judges are located near Sections 19, 20, 21 (I Sat In Section 21 @ Skate Canada that year and the Kiss & Cry was in the corner.

Zamboni does come out in Section 13/14 at that end.

Skaters come onto the ice around Section 16 - in that corner.

I do certainly hope that helps you out in anyway.

Again this is how it was set up when I attended Skate Canada back in 2000 at the Hershey's Center. So I'm guessing its the same for this year.

Here is the link to the map of the arena:

I just want to mention that at Skate Canada 2002, I sat in the section right next to the judges and about 1/4 of the ice surface was blocked cause of the new system of having extra judges on the panel

I don't know if Skate Canada has made provisions at the 2003 event to be different ie less seats sold on the judges side; So be very careful about choosing seats on the same side as the judges as you might end up with a view that is partially blocked. I know in the past it was always considered the right thing to do, to be on the same side as the judges but I'll never sit on that side again.

I don't think there are many tickets left. It's possible that people will find out they can't go and will be selling tickets closer to the event but you will have to take what's available.

Okay, thanks a lot for all your help!

I think I'm going to buy tickets in section 3. It sounds pretty safe to me...Although, come to think of it, I might have a camera man blocking me?!?!

Anyways, thanks again! :)

I went to ticketmater yesterday to see what kind of seats I was able to get for all events, and they aren't that bad, if you want to sit higher up. Of course I'm picky when it comes to getting tickets, and I prefer sitting within the first 10 rows or so. Anything higher I would pass.

I am thinking about getting single tickets for some of the events and making the trip down there on the weekend.

Anyone know when single event tickets go on sale?

Even if the tickets are 'higher' up, the Hershey Centre is a kickass arena and believe me, there is not one bad seat in the house even if you're in the last row. It's fairly intimate so it shouldn't be a problem to see some good skating.

Very true. But for someone like me who loves taking pictures during the events, I need to sit at least 10 rows from the ice. Anything higher than that is too far with my camera.

But Hershey's Center is a great arena and there isn't a bad seat in the house.

I just reserved my tickets through the Mississauga skating club. They have a bunch of good seats available in section 3. Check out their website for details.

The Hershey Centre is one of my favourite arenas. It's hosted a huge nationals-like synchro competition for many years now.
Seating isn't usually a problem, no matter where you sit (on the side oppposite to the judges) the seats are great. I've sat even in the front row and still enjoyed it.
