She's filed an appeal w/the ISU. She says if the ISU refuses she's going to the Court of Arbitration for Sport

Be careful where you walk, sit, etc. as there will be worms everywhere   Just when we thought things had quieted down until the 114th Session of the IOC this coming November in Mexico City...:!:  What more can happen now :?: :halo:

For the life of me, I can't understand this woman. She already admitted to wrongdoing (favoring a team due to pressure by her federation) by her own words and in writing no less with her signed sworn statement. What more is there to say? Oh right. She then recanted her statement and basically blamed another party for the pressure. Which story are we meant to believe?
Well, IMO, if the only thing Marie Le Gougne admitted to is her inability to withstand pressure (by her federation, another federation, a judge/official from another country, whatever or whoever) to vote in a certain way, that's enough to ban her. She has no business in the business of figure skating, which, as we have all learned, is inhabited by  people and is definitely not for the faint of heart. :frus:

Even if she won on an appeal or in court who in their right mind would ever invite this woman to Judge an event?

[color=blue:569b49cd1a]Unfortunately, since her suspension is only for three years, I guess anyone who invites the French could be inviting her. The thing that just floors me is that she wasn't thrown out on her ear! [/color:569b49cd1a]

I have mixed feelings about her. I'm not sure which story to believe. However, I do think that her hearing in April was stacked against her. To me, the ISU would do anything to make the double gold look acceptable. She at least deserves a fair hearing and I hope she gets it.

I think she should appeal and I think if denied she should go to the CAS. I feel pretty certain that her hearing was unfair. If she was pressured, whether it was the Russians or the Canadians, that needs to come out if this sport has any hope to be considered legitimate. Problem is, by making the claim that she was "temporarily" overwrought, she has made it difficult to believe any story she tells now.
BTW did the CAS ever make any ruling on the Australian appeal about the 2000 Worlds being moved to France?

I'm amazed that more people don't find it strange that it was Stapleford and Lavoie, total partisans, who originally claimed that the French Judge said to THEM that she was pressured...and then it was Brennan who wrote the article quoting Stapleford and Lavoie the next morning...which was the article the rest of the U.S. media went on...that and the Hamilton/Bezic commentary.
I guess it never occurred to anyone but me that this was very, very fishy, that it could have been a total set up of the French Judge.
Anyway, now that this seems headed for a real court, then in a real court, there are rules, and they are enforced by the REAL government. There are going to be a lot of records subpoenaed, e-mails, records of phone calls, records from ISP providers, etc. etc. and there are going to be depositions of all parties and non-party witnesses... and purjury is a crime.
