came across this yeaterday and followed up just now. the poster is an adult skater who participated in the usfsa training camp for adults in hackensack, nj this past sat/sun. she seems to be factual in reporting what she heard, really straight-forward and honest. so---

here's the link the her first post and a subsequent response to another poster about what peter and naomi said to her:

since this was a usfsa training camp they were participating in (although such things are run locally), and naomi and peter seem, by some other accounts i've heard, to be saying this same thing to others, i give this a pretty high rating on the credibility scale.

the complete exchange is posted on the usfsa website's discussion board:

That was interesting. Makes my photos of Lang and Tchernyshev that much more precious to me.

Thanks for posting, what?meworry?

Thanks for pointing that out. I figured that after 4CC's and Worlds, they would sit down and make a decision--whatever it would be. As much as I wish they would stay around, if the desire to compete isn't there, it's way too hard to train.

I have heard for years about how nice both Naomi and Peter are with their fans....it's wonderful to see National Champions coach adults. And it seems that Peter has a great future as a coach! (I guess Naomi does as well...;-)

(who is still upset that the Adult camp was in Hackensack two years in a row...the first one at Seven Bridges was so much fun!)

I can't say that this is surprising news, but I wonder what Peter will do. He is such a wonderful skater, I hate to see him leave the sport. Too bad Jamie Silverstien just isn't pulling it together, she would have made a wonderful partner for him.

Well, I have my tickets for the show after the camp in Hampton, VA on July 25th, so I'll see them in 22 days! People are saying things ranging from "Naomi doesn't want to COMPETE anymore" to "Naomi never wants to see a pair of skates again" and "Peter wants to find a new partner/move to Russia and coach/stay here and model/who-knows-what" so it sounds like nothing will be certain until there's an official announcement. And since as far as I can see, this Hampton camp is the last thing on their summer schedule, I'd expect an official announcement sometime in early August.

another corroborating report on the usfsa discussion board from someone local who seems to be acquainted with l/t and other "ice house" skaters:
