You can probably find the schedule on the ORDA website, or at the Skating Club of Lake Placid website which is on the ORDA site...which is www.orda.org ! Good luck at the competition, and have fun...lake placid is awesome!!:) And i just checked, you can reach the schedule..along the left hand side click on skating programs, then just follow the tabs!

The NACS competition starts tomorrow (Friday). Both USFSA and Skate Canada should be posting results - it will be interesting to see how quickly they make it online:

Just watched the live webcast... :-)

Colin landed 2 3lutz (one with steps between a 2toe), 3flip, 3loop, 3sal, 3toe and a few others. Clearly the winner with a slightly boring Romeo & Juliet program but superb technique and lovely straight back.

Matthew William McEwan skated very well but did not attempt 3flip or 3lutz. He landed at least 3loop, 3sal, 3toe and 2axel. His program was very strong the whole way through, interesting choreography. The thing I liked the best was he looked so controlled, sure and steady with his movements. From the marks I think he was 2nd.

David Weintraub skated to 1812 Overture with slightly flingy choreography that dropped off about halfway through when he looked really winded. Did a very nice 3lutz.

Tommy Steenberg is looking more and more like Emmanuel Sandhu. Doesn't quite jump like him. Popped the lutz but got off some other very nice triples to unrecognizeable music. Spin positions could be better.

I missed the rest of the NACS as I was watching the Summer Championships.

Thanks fotr the report! Thats awesome that Matt did that well especially not even attempting a 3 lutz or flip sometimes it pays off to play it save! Even the american David that came 3 tried one.... Great start to the season!!

Matt planned to attempt a triple lutz but he popped/singled it.
I really like his skating, he has a great flow and good edges. He truly shows potential! Keep on the good work man! ;)

I just got back from Lake Placid. I only saw bits and pieces of the Novice ladies event but here is what I have:

SHORT

Emilie Roy (CAN)
layback, 2ax (tight but clean), 3sal (2ft, step out), 2fl. spiral seq. (split spirals but leg was a little to the side), combo spin.
She was a pretty skater with lots of speed. Her spins were very solid but not original (Very good cammel spin)

Maria Fernanda Diaz (MEX)
layback, 2lz, 2fl (fell but had it until the last second), spiral seq (very slow), 2ax (fall but it was all the way around...unlike in warm up).
Her program was cute but very slow and had no flow.

Samantha Karson (USA)
1ax (2ft), 3toe/2toe (foot was stuck across on landing of 3toe but she pulled it out), flying cammel (very good), spiral seq, 2fl, combo spin (good)
good flexibility, personality in program and good speed

Erika Smith (USA)
2ax (out of spiral), 3lz(2ft)/1toe, layback (very good), 1fl, spiral seq (great positions but a little slow), combo spin (good, lost center on layback which she only held for 1 or 2 rotations, her positions were otherwise excellent)
very pretty skater average speed. she did her entire program facing away from the judges

LONG

Stephanie (USA) - Turnadot
3toe, 2ax, 3fl (2ft, fall out, half rotation short), flying change sit, 3lp (cheat?)/2lp, 3sal (hop on landing), layback/beilleman, 3toe/2toe, combo spin

Tosha Hadford (USA) - 4 seasons
2ax (fall), 3lp (turn out)/2toe, 2lz/2lp, flying cammel, 2sal, layback (excellent), 2toe, 2lp, 2?, 2fl, combo spin

Erika Smith (USA)
2ax, 3lz (2ft and crossed), 3sal, 2fl (out of turns), combo spin, 3toe (slight over rotation)/1toe, 2lp, 2ax, footwork (a little slow), 2?, cammel/illusion, back upright

Myrianne Samson (CAN)
layback, 2ax, 3lz, 1fl, 3sal (a bit low on the landing but clean), 2lp, flying cammel, 3sal/2lp, 3lz (2ft), combo spin.
A great skate especially the lutz but not as good as the warm-up where she did 1axel, 2ax, 3sal, 3sal/2lp, 3lp, 3fl, 3lz, 3lz/2lp all in a row without missing anything in under 4 mins

I've come back with a cold/flu so this isn't the world's greatest write up.

Sorry.

I only attended Saturday's freeskates as I stayed an extra day in Boston.

First up, novice ladies.

I'll do this by appearance on the ice. UR stands for underrotated.

1. Loreta Hamui; blue dress, skating to some generic musik.

spin, dblutz--ur, DA-ur, Tsal-badly ur, spin, dbflip-ur--dbtoe, tloop-ur--??, not sure what the second jump was, spiral, tloop-ur, DA-ur, straight line. She was beaming when she came off the ice so I guess she was pleased with her effort.

2. Maria Fernanada Diaz-very tiny girl with two ponytails!

Didn't note the music.

DA, spin, Dbflip, Tsal-ur, dblutz-?, missed the next jump, spiral, dblutz--fall, DA-fall, Dbflip, straight line, spin.

Cute girl; she didnt' seem as pleased with her skating as Loreta.

3. Emilie Roy; Light blue dress to some piece from Romeo & Juliet.

DA-dbtoe, layback, Tflip-ur, tsal-ur-dbtoe, DA, spiral, dblu, ? missed the last jump.

She has the Double axel but the triples aren't there yet. Should continue to pursue pairs, IMHO as she has a very nice look on the ice.

4. Samantha Karson: Gypsy music with I guess a practice dress as they didn't match.

DA, Tsal-cheated, dbflip, Ttoe-ur-dbtoe, DA-dbtoe, dblutz-dbtoe, nice footwork.

5. Stephanie Zastrow.

Skated to some Bond selections including Winter.

Ttoe, DA, Tflip-ur, has a bad tendancy to slow down into her jumps. Now skaitng to I think Turadot. Tloop-ur-dbloop, tsal-ur, layback, ttoe-ur-dt. Started out nice but faded.

6. Tosha Hanford. Mis mash of musik.

DA-fall, tloop-stepout-dbtoe, footwork, dbtoe-dbloop, spin, dbsal-popped, layback, dbtoe, inabauer, dbloop, spread eagle, dblutz, split jumps, dbflip.

I thought she was an "ok" but the musik was just bleeeeechhherous.

7. Erika Smith. Classical piece with dreadful choreo. Really bad asthma. I thought she was going to cough out a lung at one point.

DA, Tlutz-ur, tsal, dbflip, ttoe, dbloop, spiral, DA, Circular footwork, dlutz, spin.

With the dreadful choreo and just 2 triples, the door was open for Myriane.

8. Myriane Samson; in Red. Didn't note the music but it was nice and her program actually had some decent choreo.

layback, DA. tlutz!, popped flip, tsal-ur, dbloop, tsal-dbloop, tlutz-ur, straight line.

Doesn't have the triple toe yet.

Great triple lutz; fully rotated.

Small break and then on the novice men.

1. Jacob Povzikov. the Rink announcer couldn't pronounce his name! Cute kid.

Jewish medley. dbflip, DA, ?missed what it was, dblutz-dbtoe, footwork, ttoe-dbtoe, tsal, dbloop, dblutz, footwork, DA-dt.

Thought he was undermarked and should have been higher in the final standings.

2. Miguel Angel Moyron; skated to Carmen.

tloop-ur, ttoe, DA, tsal-ur, dbflip, ttoe-ur, tsal, dloop-step out-dbtoe.

3. Corey Sutherland; some movie soundtrack with a celtic theme.

ttoe-fall, DA-stepout, tsal, popped flip, DA, fell on something, popped salchow, popped toe. pretty much an off skate.

4. Joey Russell. American in Paris

DA, Tsal-fall, t-toe-fall, dbloop, tsal, DA-dt, dbflip-fall.

Started off slowly, had a good middle section and then started to peeter out again.

5. Allen Davis.

tlutz-dbtoe--shaky, popped sal, tsal-held on, fell on footwork, ttoe, ?missed the next jump, spiral, tsal-fall.

6. Lenny Raney. Interesting that Peter Bourroghs is his coach. Hadn't seen him in a long time.

Mis-match of music. some classical, some techno.

Taxel-fall, tflip-dbtoe, tlutz-held on, tsal-fall, dbflip, footwork, triple something (I think it was a toe), DA-ur and step out.

I didn't see any clean triple axels in warmups but then I wasn't paying too close attention.

7. Charlie White. Didn't note the music.

DA-dbtoe, tlutz-fall, tflip-fall, tsal-step out-into dbtoe, tloop, tsal, dbtoe, DA-over rotated.

I liked his style alot. Could tell his dance training influences his overall presence on the ice. If he had gotten the lutz, I would have given him the win.

I took a break to do some stuff and walk around a bit to get the feeling back in my legs. I also needed real food to eat. So when I got back, I went to the 1932 rink to watch jr ladies at the Lake Placid competition. I didn't have a start order and all I got out of the rink announcer was a mumbled mess so I could only tell when Kim Caissey and Jennifer Dubois was on the ice since I knew who they were!

Kim was skating up; She did a huge DA and then proceeded to fall apart.

DA, dbflip, Dtoe-opened up, DA-fall, Tsal-fall, Dlutz, Dbloop, ttoe-fall. She was pretty upset in the stands. Hopefully her NAC event will go better in a few weeks.

Jennifer Dubois didn't land anything harder than a dbflip. She has grown into a lovely young woman. Very pretty skater.

Then I went back to the 1980 rink to watch the last two events of the NAC event.

Dance.

Only noted music styles. Sorry. I can't take notes of dance.

1. Rettino & Lapointe: Middle eastern medley.

They had a nice twizzle section.

2. Pellerin & Dupuis: Tango and Mexican Hat Dance, which I thought didn't suit them very well.

I thought they were a bit overmarked.

3. Pennington & Varraux:

My first "Chicago" freedance of the new season!! Yeah!!

Finished after the music.

4. Weaver & Clavey

Some musik medley. Coached by Matthew Gates.

5. Palmer & Stucke

Tango medley. I didn't care for it at all.

6. Koob-Doddy & Antonelli.

Very young looking. Skated to a rock-roll number with "Bad to the Bone" "Johnny be good", etc. Thought that they skated "tight".

7. McKenzie & Gfeller

Coached by one of my favorites, Julie Marcotte. Lots of friends and family in attendance. Loved them!! Especially him. Another talented young Canadian male ice dancer. She seemed a little bit more nervous than he but that's understandable as it was big deal for them.

Music was a Blues medley.

Judge number one didn't like them but who cares, I did!

8. Hurst & Stoveld.

Music was a slow, romantic ballad. Sorta drippy in a way but they made it work.

Bad fall on a lift early in their program.

I thought it was interesting that even with the fall, they had 3 firsts.

1. Grant Morton

Spy music medley.

Waxel, hard fall on ttoe, tlu-fall, tflip-fall, tsal, popped a lutz, tloop-fall, ? missed the jump, dbtoe.

Total mess.

2. Maxim-Billy Fortin

Movie soundtrack and then into Riverdance.

ttoe, DA, tlutz-step out then fall, dbflip, dbloop, tlutz, tsal, single axel-dbtoe.

I always enjoy Maxim-Billy. He's growing more into his body now.

3. James Hanley

Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar is his music.

DA, dbflip-dbtoe, ttoe-ur-toeaxel, tloop-cheated, popped sal, ttoe, DA-dbtoe

4. Karolin Metiver

Very nice skater! Good, solid edges.

DA-skidded on the landing. dblutz, Tsal-step out, dbflip, ttoe, DA, tloop-ur, dblutz-dbtoe, ttoe, popped sal.

5. David Weintraub:

1812 Over

Dbflip, tlutz-lean-step out, TA-fall, tlutz-dbtoe, tloop, tsal-dbtoe, ttoe, DA.

I really liked his skating alot.

6. Matt McEwan.

After McKenzie & Gfeller, Matt was my favorite of the event!

Aw, shoot. Forgot to note his music. I think it was blues but I'm not 100% sure.

Tsal-half loop-DA, tflip-dbtoe, popped the lutz, tloop, tsal, dbflip, DA-dbtoe

Totally ready for the JGP. I hope he gets sent out.

A real star in the making.

7. Tommy Steenberg.

I must have been zoning out as I didn't note his music either.

Tlutz, Ttoe, Tflip-fall, DA, dbsal-opened up, Ttoe, ???

8. Collin Pennington.

R&J. I found this number to be a little bit on the boring side.

DA, Tlutz, Tflip, Tlutz-?, dbsal then steps into Tsal, tloop.

If Matt had done the triple lutz, I would have given him first as he was the better overall skater with a good program and good command of the ice, for one so young.

That's all I could handle. Didn't feel like going to the 1932 rink and watching more of the LP freeskate competition. Sorry.

The only thing else I noted was that Nick Young was walking around with a cast on his arm/wrist. Don't know how serious it is or if it will keep him from competing at Neblehorn.
