Capezio catalog features Weiss
Capezio Ballet Makers Inc. debuts its 2003/04 Skatewear Catalog this month, and with it, officially kicks off its new partnership with U.S. figure skating champion, Michael Weiss.
Michael and Capezio make an impressive team.
Weiss joined Capezio's line up of sponsored athletes last December, and has been instrumental in helping Capezio expand its product offering for male figure skaters.
Weiss won his third Gold in the U.S. Nationals competition in January. This coup is the latest accolade in his distinguished career. His legendary list of skating "firsts" includes being the first American to land a Quad Toe Loop, both in competition (at the 1999 Worlds) and in a short program (at the 2000 Worlds). Weiss is famous for the "Tornado" -- an astonishing back flip with a full twist.
Weiss's signature elegance and versatile choreography are evident in the Skatewear catalog photography. Shot on location in New York City by noted photographer Steve Vacariello, Weiss appears with Jenny Kirk, 2000 Junior World champion.
Weiss is "excited about the opportunity with Capezio. It is a brand that is consistently focused on the performer, and involves the dancers and athletes in the process of developing new products. Liz Livingstone, Capezio's designer, and I worked for months on the cargo pant, which is part of the men's skatewear line. Every detail had to be perfect."
Weiss will make personal appearances throughout the U.S. to promote the Capezio Skatewear Collection, and will be wearing Capezio products at official competition and show warm-ups throughout the upcoming 2003-2004 season.
The Capezio Skatewear pant collection for men will be available for sale on Michael's online store beginning in August.
