Not sure if this is the right place to post this or not, so Admins, feel free to move this!
The first try-out for a Novice High Performance Synchronized Skating team is being held today in Calgary. To be eligible for Novice, skaters must be younger than 15 as of July 1st, 2003, and must have completed either Senior Bronze Dance, Free Skate, or Skills.
This might specifically interest skaters in the area who are primarily test skaters, as it is definitely expensive and time consuming to be a competitive singles and synchro skater! Nevertheless, if this sounds interesting to you or someone you know, I would encourage you to come to a try-out.
This will be one of only two High Performance synchro teams in Western Canada (the other being Ice Elite Senior, a member of the National Team, from Edmonton).
There's often a lot of stigma surrounding synchro in the singles community, but don't let that hold you back! The level of individual skating has improved dramatically over the past few years, and partly because of and as a result of the test requirements Skate Canada has imposed.
There will be two more try-outs held in June. All the information you need about dates, locations, time, and contact info can be found at www.calaltasynchro.com (http://www.calaltasynchro.com) .
Happy skating!
