NNN will be competing (albeit only against one other skater in a local competition) this weekend (Orange County FSC Open Competition).
Hope someone attends and posts -- we can't make it due to a wedding.
Thanks and GO NAOMI!!!!!

Regardless of how she skates, I think it's great that she's entered and I hope she's able to get through the competition. This isn't the time to worry about results--merely competing would be a huge victory for her at this point. Not many skaters come back from that long an absence. I wish her the best. :)

How exciting for her! I love her skating so much, I wish her only the best! :)
So who's the other skater? Anyone we might have heard of?

The only other skater registered for the Senior ladies short program event this weekend besides Nam is Rebecca Fritzges (3rd at SWP Regionals, 13th at Pacific Coast Sectionals last season). My wish for Nam is modest -- just that she skates up to her own goals and expectations for this competition.

This is such wonderful news. Thank you for posting this. NNN is one of my absolute favorites to watch. Hopefully there will be a report and I wish her the best, no matter what the outcome. THe key here is to build her confidence back up.

I have heard that NNN is back, strong and doing very well. She is also doing a competition the weekend of July 11 in San Diego. I'll be there!:P

Wow, she'll be eighteen if we see anything of her next season. I really hope we do. That was quite a long absence. I'd love to hear a report on any competition she does this summer.

Wow! That report sounds great! I had no idea that she was back to that level of skating yet...I sure hope she stays healthy and does well this season. I would love it if she could make it to nationals - if not this year then maybe in the future. It would be great to see her skate!

Sounds like she's in great shape. Even doing a triple lutz, which she never did before. Good for her.

So, did she fall on a 3F or a 3T? The reports are different.

At 2000 Nationals, Nam was reportedly landing a high percentage of her triple lutzes in the practices, just not in competition. Even so, landing a triple lutz combo in her first competition back is quite a feat!
Flips and toes can be hard to tell apart (I still have trouble sometimes at live competitions, especially if there's a quick change of foot before the pick). Someone (sounds like a skater) posted on the USFSA board that Nam's solo triple in her SP was a triple toe walley, not a flip. We may just have to wait for Nam's next competition next month for more eyewitness reports... ;)

I'd love to see her skate again even if all her jumps were singles. She's a lovely skater and I'm anxious to see how her presentation has developed. And hopefully a few more moments of competitive greatness are in her future.
